SOTD : Saturday 7th May - Friday 13th May 2022.

Wednesday:

Got a full day of meetings today, so thought I would smell nice and executive-like, despite all of the meetings being on video calls!

I saw a lonely Personna not in a tuck in my blade bank the tucks are plastic anyway, so won't get replaced, but still got one pack left.

The Gold Tech is mild, much milder than my Brit flat bottomed Tech's for definite. Took me 3 passes, plus quite a few pick-ups to get me down where I like, i.e. somewhere around DFS looking to BBS. What I will say is there was no face irritation at all, no feel, just smooth, fresh and smelling good, if I do say so myself!

Hump day again, where is the time flying?

I thought I would try a cheap or "inexpensive" shave. Out came the Arko and my Weishi "Super Speed" 9306-C which I last used in November last year. The Arko was a gift and the Weishi cost about £7.

The soap’s scent divides opinion but it unarguably produces excellent lather. I remembered that the Weishi copies Gillette’s Super Speed design and is very mild, hence the decision to use a brand new Feather blade. Even with that, the Weishi struggled to get close on my difficult neck area and prompted a bit of over-shaving, which never ends well.

I’m writing this the next day and on easy to shave areas I’m still smooth but on my chin and neck, the stubble is already back. So it’s not bad but also not good. The Weishi would serve as a daily shaver for those on a very tight budget or if you just wanted to try wet shaving.

Stay safe and enjoy your shaves!

Cheshire Cat smile again.
A very nice shave with the Kampfe Star fitted with the Rapide blade. A nice Williams Wednesday, the soap easier to lather again i am thinking as it is being used a bit more - could be wrong.
I completed 3 passes for a DFS finish, a nice post shave setting me up for the day.
I enjoyed that!
Post shave I did a few laps on the "Chrox" powder paddle followed by 60 laps on the leather as i felt the blade needed a touch up
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.

Back to my Gem rotation after a few days indulging myself with AC/SE Shaves. I find this Razor more aggressive than the AC format, and it takes more time and care to get a similar standard of finish.

A very pleasant shave this morning. The Solstice and Kosmo created a superb lather, and the AS-D1 and Feather blade removed the stubble with ease. A super smooth three pass shave, I must use this razor more often.

Razor: Rockwell 6c
Blade: Astra SP, 2nd use
Brush: Yaqi Freedom Italian Flag 24mm Cashmere
Bowl: Captains Choice Copper Lather Bowl Standard Bowl
Preshave: Proraso Pre-Shave Cream Sensitive Cream
Soap: Hampshire Wool Fat No. 3 Puck
Aftershave: Channel Allure EDT
Balm: Baxter Of California Aftershave Balm
Additional Care: Osma Laboratoires Alum Block

Not the fanciest set up or tin, but it was one of the best shaves I’ve had in weeks! I shall continue to hunt a 6s down but the 6c is just as good and smooth a shave and this is my favourite of the 3 varieties of HWF, great post shave feel and an effortless lather.
Enjoy your day guys.

Shower - Unscented Cube

Soap: Wickham Parma Violet

Brush: Simpson special

Razor: R6S #4

Blade: 7 o'clock Green #2

Post Shave: Alum block - Wickham Parma Violet balm

DE Shave #147

My first shave with a Wickham's soap was a mildly disappointing delight. The soap was delightfully slick and easy to lather but the scent wasn't the Parma Violet of old and different from the "true" scent of the balm. The soap scent is very nice though.

Today I was a brave lad.....
There was BLOOD! So:

Wilkinson Sword Shavette (3rd attempt)
Lancet Super Platinum (halved) 1st Shave.
Morrisons own brand 'simple' soap to prep.
The usual soaping & brushing with the usual soap & brush.
Three (plus) cackhanded passes; alum + tiny bit of torn razor wrap
to stem the tide and sooth the tortured, lacerated fizzog.

Okay. Decided to try this razor (again) as I've always fancied cutthroat shaving; saw it going cheap at Boots the Chemist a while ago;
popped it into the shopping basket surrepititiously while the missus was being distracted by eyeliners & lipsticks....

I blame that Sindbad film I watched as a boy where the hero gets shaved with a dagger & some oil by a shifty looking barber......
Hush my beating heart when I accidentally discover Kamisoris!

Did I mention I have a tremor!? :)
How did it go? Well I did prepare by watching half a dozen youtube vids
of shavers slicing away with cuthroats ( yes, even they bled!)
Was I sucessful? Surprisingly yes. The most difficult bit?
Apart from trying to mitigate & override my tremor?
Deciding what angle and direction to approach whichever bit
needed the blade.... basically - EVERYTHING!! ;)

But I did shave - little nicks where I'd accelerated the blade into my face;
One bleed on my upper lip whereI caught myself a deeper one
(which needed a 'Sweeny Special' Dressing after I alumed myself)
torn from the edge of the inner wrapper of the blade - see photo.

Missus's comments?
"You've had a shave."
(Squints) "You're bleeding."
(Squints harder) "What's that paper on your face!?"

Missus's rating?
Not bad.
Not as good as you other razor (Gem).
But not bad. And you're bleeding.

The soap sample from pinnacle is very good, a wonderful scent but personally i would like them stronger.
Pinnacle Soaps seem to be very subtle but nice nonetheless.
The Brush for me is possibly my favourite.
Can’t wait to get home now
that’s me been 5 weeks here in Norway.
Home on saturday but only for a week to 10 days then back here again.
I’m actually only going home to replenish my supplies lol i’m fed up using the same stuff
