My seventh day using this soap and I'm very pleased with its overall performance , consistently good lather from this cheap as chips soap.

Wed 4th Sept

Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2Band
Williams Mug Soap
ES Claymore V1 / Ikon Bulldog Handle
Schick Proline [ 7 ]
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

Todays Shave confirms why currently I prefer heavier AC/SE Razors to the lighter ones. The sheer weight of the Claymore just powers through the whiskers with the minimum effort on my part. The quality of overall finish being superior to that achieved yesterday with the Alu.General. I am glad though that since getting the Occams V2 I am liking the lighter Razors a lot more, as some time in the future I might find it hard to wield such hefty "Beasties" as the Claymore.

My “new” 1930s Gillette New, arrived Yesterday. It's from back roads gold, over in Arizona, sold via Etsy.
Basically it's identical to my Grandad's razor but with some serious shine, having been plated in 24ct gold. It's completely gratuitous and very beautiful, the picture doesn't do it justice.
First shave this morning was very nice and boy does it look good on the shelf!
Cheers all

Yesterday a fellow shaver gave me a hybrid razor head:

yzH9aPd.jpg

A (very) slant head, top plate OC, bottom plate SB.
Used an aluminum custom handle with it.

A double experiment: test this razor, and a shaving soap that I was not sure of.
In case the soap and/or the razor were no good, a trusted soap and razor are standby:

This is the setup:

J&T® katalox / OUMO Brush imitation silvertip synth.
Brick "Tough & Masculine" shaving soap.
Vreto "Aloe Vera" scheerzeep (standby).
Hybride razor / Alu. custom handle.
Timeless Ti 0.68 OC / Stork Ti "Anaconda" handle (standby).
Centwin Super Platinum (4).
Hugo Boss "Bottled" EdT.

The test:

Loaded the brush with soap and whipped up a lather in my shaving bowl - looks OK for now.
Then the razor: after having shaved a part of my face, I knew - this razor is too aggressive for me.
In the mean time the lather vanished - exit shaving soap.
Finished my shave with the standby stuff.
