It's still unusually warm here - I was out early to try starting to take pictures for a new psycho-geography project in Glasgow but it was a waste of time - I had scouted out a few locations beforehand but the light was just 'all in the wrong place.' This may sound an absurd thing to say - 'how can light be in the wrong place?' - but any photographer will understand. So give up - return home foot sore, weary and sweaty. A nice restorative afternoon shave ahoy. A cold shower - given the weather it might have seemed obvious to go full on 'mentally' menthol but I find a good citrus shave can just as remedial for me. The Vreto Mandarin is a wonderful soap - it really is top end. Scent, slickness and post shave face feel are amongst the best I have used. Lordy - it is thirsty though. Once you understand that - there's no looking back. Used together the OSP Orange and Patchouli and the Hermes edt dovetail beautifully. OSP tonics - for me - have an unusual scent longevity for an aftershave - and where that leaves off the Eau d'Orange Verte picks up. A lovely earthy, masculine patchouli - forget the nasty hippy joss stick perfume of your youth - well mine anyway - I can't speak for yours. A spot of the unfailingly excellent Barts balm in between. Job done. After a bit of a de razor binge for the last couple of months - it was nice to go back to using the I type Schick - effortless. I even treated my self to a fresh twin blade as I had absolutely no idea how many times the previous one had been used. So - I'd find it hard to imagine how that shave could have been better - well I possibly could - but what springs to mind is indecent, immoral and very probably illegal. The view out the window could be improved - rather than Govanhill - what about the Savannah, the flow of countless wildebeest - engaged in their epic annual migration - drifting in and out of the heat haze like a river and its tributaries? Or watching a lammergeier ascending on the first thermals of a Himalayan morning - a lazy spiral upwards without a single wing beat. Perfect economy in motion. The shrill whistles of warning from the marmots as they notice the eagle high above them. No - its always going to look like a not particularly fashionable - but quite Bohemian - part of Glasgow from my bathroom window. A man can dream though. Ha ha. Enjoy your shaves one and all - yours - I.
The Traditional Shaving Co cream, is a new one to me. A good performer?

A few days off shaving and decided to have a pick me up shave today after being riddled with flu this week and the football last night (gutted but still a proud red). I used to love Voskhod blades but recently have gone off them, I much prefer Supermax these days. A great shave without incident and lovely and smooth and feeling a bit better.
I may need some shaving retail therapy to perk up a bit
