SOTD : Saturday 16th May - Friday 22th May 2020

Tue 19th SOTD
Cream Leftover MacaRoot & Aloe
Bowl Timeless
Brush Yaqi 24mm Aqua Tuxedo
Razor Game Changer.84-P HD Handle
Blade Feather 4th
Postshave & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Lemon Mix
Hyaluronic Acid
Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Yesterday morning leftover lather I did not clean but rather just leave it, since there was still some substantial amount. By night it look like all are gone...and this morning dried up. But...upon adding some water and giving it just a swirl...wow!! Turns out to have enough lather for more than sufficient 3pass shave. Shave with GC.84 paired with Feather was really nice. Smooth and sharp. No issues after 3 multiple passes. Somehow prefer HD & BarberPole handles with this GC.84 rather than Super Knurl. Between BBS and DFS results. Rating today 9.5/10

Good morning,
Long story short to the is Parker 87r, more aggressive than a Merkur 34c?..

In a nutshell, yes it is. But any razor can be 'more aggressive' if the user makes it aggressive .All my Parker TTO models have the same head, have a good weight, the only difference is the handle lenght. However, the three piece models i find more efficient. Like any razor it takes a few shave to adjust, Parkers i find need a steeper shaving angle than other razors too.

Personally i find 99% of good shaving results down to technique shaving confidence, & finding a blade that is suited to your skin type.

If you like the merkur 34c short handle, then the parker 87r maybe the razor for you,but it is more aggressive/assertive than the 34c.

Hope this helps..remember opinions & reviews are very subjective.

Take care,and enjoy your shaves.

Regards. Barry. (y)
Hello Barry,
Thanks for your detailed reply, much appreciated.
Jason.

I'd recommend them to you - among the best performing I own - well thought out and complex scents, stupidly easy to lather and pretty good value for money - a little goes a very long way. In addition to Harvest Moon - I have CaD - their take on barbershop - and it is one of my most frequently used products. Goes a treat with Epsilon Blue aftershave. Most importantly - from your point of view - is that all their soap bases are vegan. PAA produce a bewildering array of stuff - razors and brushes in addition to software. Some of the post shave balms look really interesting but I've never seen them offered by a UK or European seller - Shaving Station sell the 'core' range - if you wanted to take your chances with customs - I'm assuming it is the same deal in Ireland? - this is the company website - https://phoenixartisanaccoutrements.com/

@Paul L - sorry mate - my turn to apologise - I too completely missed that - happy birthday - I hope you had a good day. I agree with your comment - ageing has never bothered me - there are few things more futile than trying to resist it - but I had a real wobble when I became 50 a couple of years ago - I was surprised at myself. This was a source of some amusement to my partner - who is older than me - and had the same experience turning 50 - which I was completely unsympathetic about at the time. She was very gracious - and didn't rub it in - too much.

Cheers - both - I.
Thanks I, I have looked at them and saw they were Vegan , I will give one a try , the import here is the same.

Pre - Facial Scrub
Soap - TOBS Sandalwood
Brush - GF Trumpers Best Badger
Razor - MÜHLE R89
Blade - Wilkinson (1)
Post - Alum followed Super Facialist moisturiser

A nice shave, I probably got the lather too wet this morning and dropped a load in the sink. Still had just about enough to do a my usual two and a bit pass shave. No touch-ups although some would be needed if I was going for the BBS. A comfortable shave with no feedback from the Alum.

Another nice shave today, i face lathered the Lochranza with the RR400, is there anything soap related this brush cannot do?
I ended up with a fantastic slick covering and enough for 3 plus passes if needed. The scent of the Arran soaps are really nice, they are delicate and i enjoy them.
The Ladas Blade is not lighting any fires for me, 1 more shave and out.
3 Passes for a DFS+, i missed a bit under the jaw-line.
Feeling ans smelling good.

Been up and down 3 times today to the Postie.
1. Birth year slim from Italy - Been in Barbicide and cleaned, sitting drying off before an oil up and polish - its a nice one.
2. Brass Karve from @Satanfriendly. waiting for Barbicide bath
3. A new set of doors for the Model T (Courtesy of a fantastic customer service team at Rockwell when i queried a "maybe" fault in the lining up of the originals, considering i told them it was not new, although unused, when i bought it) - to be fitted.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All

SOTD 19th May

Soap - collection of samples Reef Point's Admiralty, Dragon's Blood and Test Depth
Brush - Razorock 24mm synth
Razor - FrankenStar (Star 100 base plate and top cap with EJ89 handle - originally came with Ball End Tech type handle)
Blade - Gillette Wilkinson Sword #3
Post - Baylis & Harding Black Pepper and Ginseng

Finally finding the right blade and razor combo for a DFS 3 pass shave. Awesome lather from Reef Point soaps, shame they are no longer producing. Nice balm to finish off.
Stay safe people

The scent of the Arran soaps are really nice, they are delicate and i enjoy them.

Indeed they are. Their Machrie (Sea salt and Rockrose) is a divine scent. Always have a bottle in the shower room for any visitors to 'freshen up' if they so wish. .............not many visitors lately though. In fact zero

Well, I only have the Plague Doctor soap; but I really like it. It performs well and gives a nice post-shave feel. The scent is very subtle and layers well with the splash. If a strong scent's what you're after, maybe this isn't it. But what scent is there, I really like.
Thanks for that Scotshave.
Yet another one to put on my ever growing Watch list.

Sotd - Tuesday the 19th of May

Prep - facial scrub
razor - Gillette Slim (3)
blade - Tiger (Panthera Tigris - 6)
brush - Stirling Finest fan
soap - Stirling - Nag Champa
post - witch hazel
a/s - OSP - Orange and Patchouli
balm - Nivea - Sensitive Cool Gel
scent - Hermes - D'orange Verte edt.

Result? All good. The patchouli theme from yesterday - but turned up to 'eleven' with the addition of the Stirling 'Nag Champa' - which is basically Woodstock in a tub. Cool. Have good shaves - yours - I.

Monday 18th May

Soap - Noble Otter Monarch
Brush - Simpson Trafalgar T3
Razor - RazoRock Game Changer
Blade - RapIra (1)
Post - L'oreal Birch Sap Balm
EdP - Tom Ford Neroli Portafino

Same set up as yesterday's Birthday Shave, (which seemed to have gone un-noticed on the forums), ((not that I relish birthdays with a '0' at the end !!)), except the blade - a fresh RapIra, that suits the Game Changer well, and provided a very smooth shave.

The Neroli Portafino was a birthday present from my wife.
I have the Mr Perfume oil of this scent, which my wife described as smelling like a household cleaner (I don't agree, and I think it's quite a good copy, but a fair bit stronger in scent strength)
Belated Happy Birthday to you Sir.
