I agree with your take on the Progress - considered a classic for good reason - it was the first 'proper' razor I bought after using some crap £10 Chinese thing initially - it is still in regular use - for me -very much in the 'if I could only have one razor' category - he shudders at the thought. The Mergress is even better - seen in the post of @TomG earlier today - basically the same thing except the calibration is fine tuned and the stock adjustment knob is replaced by a metal one - it changes the balance and heft for the better - in my opinion - the modifications make a great razor even better. I was lucky enough to pick one up - they are not that common - if you want a lend of it - to see what you think - get in touch.
