Paul, take a look at my post about Cobra razor and feather blades - the same as you are using. I came to exactly the same conclusion that the Feather punishes you before you realise it's happening. Maybe you should try a conventional straight - I promise that it's more user friendly.

This's the best stubtail I've ever shaved with and Neil Millers fantastic restoration of it (I thought the scales where gonners, but he made them look wonderful) doesn't make things worse :D
