SOTD Sat 5th-Fri 9th Jan

Prep: Nice Hot Shower/ Washed my face with cetaphil and a lil exfoliation pad my wife gave me
PreShave: Proraso Green (love this stuff use it every single time)
Cream: Gave it the old Omega Cream a go today
Brush: My synthetic Omega of course
Razor: The ole Merkur 23C (my first and only razor at the moment)
Blade: Derby Extra (this one is done i tossed it in the bin after i was done)
Post: Osma Alum block and the Col Conk Bay Rum AS (SWMBO actually enjoys the bay rum scent)

During today's shave I have begun to wonder about blade banks.. perhaps since i tend to "travel" into weird areas alot i should invest in some..

SUNDAY EVENING

EJ Chatsworth barley
Rapira (1)
Semogue 2012 LE
Nannys Nutmeg Spice hard soap - face lathered
Witch hazel
Institut Karite AS balm

Hadn't shaved since Friday morning, and this combo cleared the growth with no bother.

A couple of nicks under the chin closed with alum, but a mighty fine shave all round.

Proraso Pre/Post (Original formula)
Weber DLC
7 O'clock Yellow
Muhle Silvertip Fibre 21mm Horn
Proraso Red Sandalwood cream (New Formula)
Witch Hazel

Sunday 6 January 2013
Prep: Hot shower, Dove Men care sensitive face wash
Soap: Otoko Organics
Brush: Neep Threepenny Bit Custom Extra Silvertip
Razor: Pass # 1 - Miraki Straight / Pass # 2 & 3 - Feather All Stainless
Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless # 3
Post: Alum block, Rituals Secret Samurai, a touch of Institut Karite ASB and a splash of Floid "The Genuine"

Result: First time with a straight and used only tentatively on first pass. Felt OK, but definitely need to improve technique. Found it tricky to get the correct grip, so will look at some instructional videos before the next time. Feather All Stainless cleared up all the remaining whiskers and finished with a lovely smooth chin. Really liking the Rituals Secret Samurai as a post shave balm, and all finished off with nice splash of Floid. Very good indeed. Otoko interesting - different, but cushioned well and felt nice on the face.

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Eton College
Brush: New Forest Super Badger
Razor: 7 o'clock New with UFO 2 handle
Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (2)
A/S: TOBS Eton College
Cologne: TOBS Eton College

Second shave with this blade and I'm mightily impressed, still feels nice and sharp, very little drag and no nicks. A nice BBS for me today. This is a very good blade.

Identical kit to yesterday so you can have the same picture.

Monday

Gillette Fat Handled Tech (English)
Red Personna SS (2)
Semogue 1307
Erasmic Supreme Soap Stick

Nivea ASB
Body Shop White Musk EdT
Forest Fresh AS

Three pass, face lather.

Very good shave indeed.

The Erasmic Supreme Soap stick is a nice workaday stick and never to be confused with the dreadful Erasmic (ordinary) soap stick which in turn is on a par with Wilkinson Sword bowl soap - ie keek.

I've used this razor almost constantly since early September and it rarely, if ever, disappoints.

Greetings

Monday 7th January 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Valet Autostrop
Blade: Feather SE
Brush Semogue 620 Boar
Soap: Arko pressed into a container
Aftershave: Adidas Balm

Two great and one good shave from the Feather SE blade, but that's it, the blade is finished. Half the lifespan of a GEM blade and over twice the price!

Regards
Dick.

Pre Art of Shaving Unscented Oil + Cyril R. Salter shaving soap + Semogue SOC + Weber Bulldog with Merkur head and Filomatic #1 + Ach. Brito Lavanda colgone with Proraso balm

An excellent shave! Fortunately I got enough lather with this SOC boar for my usual three passes without much problem (other Semogue are really foam hunger), and this Filomatic blade is wonderful! A shame that it was discontinnued...

Cheers!

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Iridium
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (old juice)

BBS results,

Martin

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Neep, extra stuffed 28 mm silvertip in Kenya Soap stone handle
Razor: GEM Junior + GEM stainless blade
Soap: Provence Santé
AS: La Toja
Edt: Penhaligon's English Fern
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Both face and doom was shaved with this SE razor and it was a rather sweet change of path + a clean and very simple shave (compared to use two razors - one for head and another one for the face):
