A great shave. This razor holds a soft spot for me, its the razor I learned to hone on. I struggled and even now its one of the toughest razors I own to hone.

One pass and that was it, more or less. Brush had been few days in the Muehle travel container, due to me flying over here, and I feel it needs a bit of air and breathing.

Had been used only once prior to my flights and I had made sure it was dry before flying out, however I sense it needs more air. Belongings will take 30 days to arrive here and I still cannot figure out why I did not bring with me the Tulip 4 I had put aside as well for this first month.

Oh well, off for a nice spicy lunch...

Morning all,

Lovely shave today. Consisted of:

Razor: iKon safety bar razor, modified slightly.
Blade: Derby
Brush: H L Thäter chubby 0
Soap: Cella
Post: Nivea sensitive

I modified the ikon by making a spacer plate to give it a bit more aggression. Now it shaves so nice :)

Also this brush. It's fantastic. Small but a lather machine. It's got perfect back bone and the softest tips I've ever used. Also perfectly made knot.

I'm quite tempted in selling my Chubby 2 to fund a Thater 2 band. Hmmm... Choices choices.

Saturday

Edwin Jagger DE89
Iridium Super Blade
New Forest 2201 Brush
Proraso Cream
Clinique Post Shave Soother

Not used an Iridium for a while. Cracking shave.

Ian

Gillette Old Type with "The Spolier" super Stainless blade
Founder's Reserve cream

Nice. Second shave with this blade and in a very different razor to the DE89. This should be a closer shave as I had more time.

Parker 99r
Personna med prep blade (new)
Omega cream
New Forest 2213 brush
Dr+ alum block
Clinique M lotion

My usual hot flannel to start, face lather then 4 passes and a touch up. No nicks, cuts bumps or rash and so smooth I can't stop checking it.

I think I've settled on Feathers in my Merkur and Personna in the Parker. The classic wilkinson and merkur blades are too noisy and don't produce the same results.

Saturday

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Neep, 28 mm xtra stuffed silvertip in soapstone from Kenya
Razor: Double Duck by Puma + Muhle R41
Soap: Cade
AS: Floid Blue, Italian
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Uberclean :D

Such a good razor, my DD and the Muhle DE (for the head) has an extreme blade expose ... and I like it :D

... and some:
009779x800.jpg

Hot shower.
Ever Ready 1912 with Gem SS blade (new).
Mixture of Body shop maca root and Lord emomenthol creams. 5 drops glycerin.
Body shop synthetic brush.
Boots witch hazel and tea tree lotion.
Nivea AS balm.

Not a great result really; I thought the lather was a bit thin, as it occasionally dripped from the brush when applying to the face. Numerous tiny nicks too, which is a first for this type of razor

Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

I hate when the lather does that! You could try and do a stropping motion with the blade, on the edge of the palm of your hand (and feel if there's any damage/burr to the edge of the razor blade)...

Hot bath
Proraso pre
TOBS Sandalwood soap
Israeli blade (the unbranded ones from Shaving Shack)
Merkur 39c
Alum
Real Shaving Co. ASB

Not great results today. For a start I nicked a mole that I have right on my Adam's apple, it bled like I'd cut an artery. Savage razor burn afterwards too. I'm gonna blame my technique as I've used all of the gear before, although not all together like this. Never used that razor and blade combo.

I think I'll give tomorrow a miss to give my poor face a chance to recover.
