SOTD 13th - 19th October

Proraso Pre/Post (Original formula)
Kropp 6/8"
New Forest Tubby 1 finest silver tip in Tigris Perla
Proraso White Soap (New Formula)
Nivea Replenishing Aftershave Balm

Lost my touch with the proraso and made way too much by the time I'd thinned it down to the required level. Ah well, we got there in the end.

THURSDAY EVENING

Gillette Parat
Astra Super Platinum (2)
Semogue 1305
Palmolive cream - face lathered
Witch hazel
Bulldog balm

Tried something new for me tonight. Dollop of cream into the middle of the brush then face lathered. Worked very well.

However, I noticed after the shave that my skin had a 'burning' sensation. Wonder if I'm allergic to something in Palmolive? I've tried it before and it was fine and the soap doesn't cause me any problems.

Apart from that, an excellent shave.

Thursday 18th October

Hot Shower and Facial Scrub
3P Pre/Post cream
Sanguine Shavette/Lord Platinum Class blade
New Forest Tubby 2
Klar Kabinett Soap
Homemade Toner (Cider vinegar based)
Organic Shea Butter
Pashana Bay Rum
Pashana Original Brilliatine

2 pass DFS+

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
RL Safari SS
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic

When I concentrate in making up the lather, this stuff really works well. Sometimes I get a little lazy and don't spend that extra 30-45 seconds needed for maximum results. Today was a smart day.....heh.

For anyone who likes the Safari EdT, this would be worth looking at. Performs like a classic tallow based soap.

Yesterday I barely touched the blade to my upper lip.....just careless. Damn thing took hours to shut down the flow.......very nice. I blame the blade for being so sharp. Stooopid blade!

BBS results,

Martin

Friday:

Morning, gents.

Prep: Soap and Glory Fresh, Man facewash
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Gillette Superthin (7)
Brush: Bestshave's Horsehair No.6
Shaving soap: Bath House Spanish Fig
A/S: L T Piver Heliotrope Blanc homemade aftershave splash
Cologne: Mama Bear's Dragon's Blood when I get home tonight

An efficient shave, but my skin felt a little rough afterwards. There was, however, no sign of irritation and my bristles were closely cut. That's the difference with this way of shaving: even a rough shave is a pretty good shave. Back in The Bad Old Days a rough shave made me look like I'd been attacked with a Lancashire Peeler - oh, the tales of woe and razor rash I could tell...
