It seems to me that it must take as much time to shave (around) these beards that it does to remain clean-shaven.

The only reason I'd think to grow a beard would be to enjoy shaving it off! Work makes it tricky for me, and I never have enough time off to go beyond about 4 days, I tried it in the pre DE days, but I think the itching from 4 days is enough. I'd like to try and work through that though just to see what happens!

Never shaved for about 6 days about 2 months ago. I had to take clippers to it before I could shave. I've mentioned here before, I have to shave up to my eye sockets. I am a trifle hirsute, and yes when I was a younger man sported a beard / designer stubble
