I've decided to start the thread this morning since Ian (who usually takes the lead every Saturday) is temporarily off shaving on 'sick leave'.

Let's see those pics and SOTDs then!

Re: Shave of the day - w/c Feb. 12th to 18th incl.

I had a wonderful musical shave today..
I got one of my razors back from andy who put an edge on it.
This is not a looker, very basic piece of kit.. but boy does it shave!
The cutting of the hairs was very musical, probably the first blade I have that is that audible.

I love the la toja shave stick..I always get a great shave using it and the aftershave and balm leave my face silky smooth.. :)

Saturday
Pre: Hot shower
Brush: Rooney Victorian
Razor: C V Heljestrand
Soap: MWF
AS: Floid
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D
Before shaves I often think "this cheap Floid really can´t be a must in my rotation", but it has a lovely refreshing effect and works very nicely together with MWF :D

Glad you're happy with it, Max :D I thought it was rather pretty actually.

New brush from Tony. Very nice all round. I like the slant but I think I'd get on better with the shorter handled version.

MWF Hand Soap,
St James of London Founders Reserve Cedarwood & Clarysage SC,
Dovo 5/8,
Razorock Alum,
GFT Limes SF,
L'Occitan EdT.

SOTDFeb12th2011.jpg

I only use the Founders Reserve once in a blue moon and I keep forgetting how much I like it! :?
Great lather and a wonderful get you up and going first thing in the morning smell.
I also have the Hot Towel Mask by the same people but I gave that a miss this morning? I wish I hadn't now! :(

Besides all that I introduced the Dovo to a "Water of Ayr" hone for 5 laps. Don't know if I was jumping the gun here but the Dovo has seen daily use since I got it back from Neils at Chrimbo?

Very smooth shave.........I seem to have answered my own question!

Saturday February 12

Simpson Duke 3 in Best
Trumper's Rose Cream
Merkur HD
Feathers blade (4)
Aqua Velva A/S
Trumper's Spanish Leather Cologne

Re: Shave of the day - w/c Feb. 12th to 18th incl.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Simpson badger
1955 Diplomat/Iridium
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Roger and Gallet L'homme 'Sport' EdT

Last time using the Diplomat before sending it off to TimBlakeSlick today. I hope he finds it to be an amusing razor.

My old Simpson was calling to me this morning and I think I'll have to use this thing more often. It's got a small sorta scritchy knot that I think will be more fun when it breaks in and blooms a bit more. Heh, I mainly bought the thing because of the handle, so no expectations for how it would perform.

BBS results,

Martin
