i just realised i made an error in my posting today:

i said that id used a feather blade in my new DE87 and that i'd had a wonderful irritation free shave. Well, the latter is true, but it suddenly occured, that today is the first day in ages that i HADNT used a feather.

My DE87 was actually loaded with a Gillette Platinum.

could i have found something even better for me than a feather? whats the general consensus on these blades?

made in st petersburg apparently.

Friday
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Hydro 3
Brush: Simpson Tulip 2 (Super)
Soap: D R Harris Almond
Aftershave: Taylor of Old Bond St #74

Friday

Merkur TRAC II
Sensor 3
Simpsons Duke 2 Best
Monsavon
Alum
L'Oreal post shave balm

Think the alum is something I can take or leave so I doubt it'll be out much more and balm wise my skin felt best just using a normal moisturiser.

Friday

Rocket HD
supermax titanium tiger
pre shave proraso prepost menthol
new forest 2211
bodyshop maca root sc
alum
alcolado

been a bit of a discussion about the prorase pre/post so dug it out and tried the "mix with water to make a balm" technique , very nice menthol hit. I think that it did improve the shave and I'll be trialing it from now on.

enjoy

Damian

Friday:

Pre: Hot towel
Soap: Palmolive stick
Brush: New Forest 2201
Razor: Feather AS
Blade: Feather (3)
AS: Pecksniffs Citrus
Cologne: Truefitt & Hill West Indian Limes

An excellent shave. I've been grating the Palmolive into a bowl, and adding a small amount of hot water, leaving it for a few minutes while I soak the brush and then whipping up a luscious lather. Three days with a blade is enough, even with a Feather, but it gave a very comfortable shave, albeit with a couple of small nicks. The Pecksniffs has become my default choice for an ASB, and I regularly trawl TK Maxx to find more.

Have a good day, chaps.

Regards

Ian

shrink: do a search, the Plats had their own thread here few weeks back
people seem not to be unhappy with them, RB73 and IanM I believe are among those using them

I also have them and shortly will put them on my No. 55 so that I can really test them after a few weeks using Wilkinson Swords.

Friday:
Hot towel,
Unknown Bristle/Godrejsoap
Gillette Flair/Shark
Alum
Ogallala Bay Rum
3 passes resulting in a most satisfactory shave. :)
regards, beejay

Friday

Pre shave: No7 facewash in the shower
Razor: Murker 33C
Blade: Feather
Cream/Soap: boots shave stick + palmolive cream
Aftershave: Professor Blightlys Grapewood

Great shave but not good as my last one, not too sure if I can't get on with Palmolive cream or my feather is blunt, this was it's 3rd outing. Grapewood smells divine :D

Friday morning
Pre: Hot shower
Razor: Törnblom "X" + Merkur 25C for the head
Brush: New Forest two banded finest aka 2201
Soap: Scheerzeep Bay Rum
AS: Ogallala Lime and Peppercorn
Strop: Neil Miller
Result: Very clean :D

Wo hoo, this little brush is so cool and worked very well w the soap today. An almond size piece and it lathered like mad, two passes WTG + AGT in face and one touch up pass on neck XTG AND two passes on the head AND I could have done another on the face if I had wanted too :D.
