S.O.T.D Sat 29th Dec - Fri 4th Jan

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Simpson, Polo 8
Razor: C V Heljestrand no 9½
Soap: MWF
AS: Code
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

"Da fat" is a fantastic soap, I wish I could use it more often (the lanolin content is sky high and it's the only lanolin soap I can get reactions from).

All face lathered, quite liking using this little brush at the moment.

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Fatip / Weber Bulldog
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow (2)
Brush: Neep Extra Silvertip
Soap: La Toja Stick
Post: Proraso Post Cream
AS: Speick Splash

A great 2 pass cold water face lather shave.

1st time i've used La Toja, great lather, strange scent.

I've had a few shaves with the Fatip now, it's great with the heavier handle, each shave i have i'm getting more used to it - great razor!

I've got my Valobra and Boots stick left to try, but Lea is my clear favourite stick so far.

They all have great lather, but the Lea smells the best and the lather is a tad better, probably due to the lanolin.

Prep: Hot shower Then Prorazo menthol pre-shave
Soap: TOBS Sandalwood cream
Brush: EJ Silvertip
Razors: Merkur Vision 2000 with an EJ89db for tidy-up
Blade: Merkur in the Merkur, Wilky in the EJ
Post: Alum, Nivea sensitive balm, Jo Malone A/S

Geo F. Trumpers limes shaving cream
Haryali head, Global Needz handle (I'll call it HGN in future) with Flying Eagle stainless / Super Thin New Stainless
Edwin Jagger boar
Scent from Heaven Escape-style mositurising balm

The FE felt a bit blunt and tuggy. Tuggy is usual for the first four or five strokes with a lot of the Chinese blades, I find, but one pass didn't remove much stubble and the tugginess remained. Stuck a Super Thin in and was surprised that although the tugginess was gone that wasn't whisker-whacking as well as expected. Two duff blades seems unlikely so it might be that this head doesn't suit these blades. They're usually fantastic in the Progress, but then all blades bar the Bolsano Super Inox have been for me so far.
Result: DFS face, slightly below par on the neck

Friday:

Semogue 2012 LE
RazoRock XXX
Gem OCMM
Gem blade
Witch Hazel
DR Harris Windsor AS
DR Harris Windsor EdT

The Semogue 2012 LE arrived yesterday courtesy of antdad so I had to put it to use this morning. It still has a bit of breaking in to do, but the performance was still good. One of the other brushes I use is a Semogue SOC boar. If the performance of the LE brush is anything like the boar I won't be disappointed.

OCMM delivered a BBS shave easily. Very nice!

Pre Veleiro soap + Mike's AC EL 2012 shaving soap + Vie&Long AC 50 mm. white badger + UFO U2 Long with Weber ARC and Gillette Platinum + Blue Stratos splash with Proraso balm

An excellente shave! Definitely Mike's soaps are really good although I don't like much the scent of this one in particular.

Cheers!

Palmolive stick
Vulfix Bodger
EJDE89L, Sharp Stainless
RSC balm

This blade delivers quite a tuggy shave in this razor, for me at any rate. Decent result nonetheless.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

old Savile Row badger
1959 Fatboy/Feather
Nanny's Lavender hard soap
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT (black bottle)

BBS results,

Martin
