I put a WTB post on here a couple of years ago and purchased a New SC from a forum member based in the US for $26 + $14 shipping. I have no idea of current prices, but consider posting a WTB on the shaving forums and check ebay and forum BST's for an indication of prices. Good luck with your quest.just wanted to pick your lots brain, at a guesstimate how much would the long open comb and short open comb set me back?
My long comb and short comb together cost me $8.00.
The average cost each on the bay for user grade is probably around $15.00.
Hand on wallet more likeSlim , fatboy and 109 super adjustable black beauty are my favourites , aristocrat, flair tip , open comb ( too aggressive for me ) , single ring and couple of techs
After a 84 super adjustable, gold super adjustable and a red tip and (that's) me never buying another razor , honest , hand on heart
I always thought they made smashing Toffee hammers but not the ones with plastic bottomsWay too long, unless you golf with it.
Ahh well that is one for the cheesestring length assessment board but to be fair I'm just stringing you alongAny of you guys know how long a piece of string is and how much it would set me back?
Are both the new gillette de razors long combs? Two 'Old' and two 'New' < the New are long comb.
Look for a serial number on the top of the baseplate on the 'Old' razors and check the date code.
Nice one mate, you're a star for clarifying
The short comb was, I think, about £20. No splits in the handle. No idea on the long comb. Peanuts, probably as part of a mixed bag.Nice one mate, you're a star for clarifying
How much you paid for yours?
Think I got a bargain tbh
yea i've got a tin of peek polish which im yet to openThe short comb was, I think, about £20. No splits in the handle. No idea on the long comb. Peanuts, probably as part of a mixed bag.
Yes, you've got a nice haul there and the beginnings of a good vintage collection. Do check the serial numbers on the 'Old' razors which should tell you year of production. Likely 1920s. Mangled teeth on the single ring and some cracks on the handles with the 'New' razors. If you are going to clean them up, do the handles gently. Use Peek Polish. You can use string to get into the nooks and crannies on the handles. The brass head 'New' will make a lovely shaver.
Enjoy!
