First shave with the Blue blade was excellent very smooth and no irritation. I'll use it again tonight for a face shave, thats when I can tell how much I like a blade compared to my head shaves. I'm hopefully it'll be a good shave and money well spent on these blades.
I found the London Bridge to be initially rough. I have one set up for a shavette shave tomorrow. I have already stropped it on my jeansI
Mr. culcreuch, it is no wonder you're having rough shaves it you're stropping modern DE blades as that is accelerating the normal erosion of the PTFE coating which imparts the smoothness. Don't do that.
Todays stropping was an act of desperation. I have never stropped anything other than a traditional straight razor..Mr. culcreuch, it is no wonder you're having rough shaves it you're stropping modern DE blades as that is accelerating the normal erosion of the PTFE coating which imparts the smoothness. Don't do that.
I find for a blade that has a bit too much bite/a little rough to begin with to it to give it a shave in the mildest razor head I own (either a bakelite Souplex or an Old Type) before moving the blade onto my Techs. I find that works really well for some of my favourite blades, eg Permasharp/7 Black, but generally if a blade isn't a good shaver in my Fat Handle Tech I'm unlikely to respond to the blade in any razor.
...At the top end of everything we're literally splitting hairs in that final percent of performance and we do make dramatic distinctions.
That said, when I get an outstanding shave ... I know I've had an outstanding shave. When that becomes absolutely repeatable with varied equipment and across a number of blades, I can then remove the provisional rating from a blade (for me, that's usually after finishing a tuck). But for now, my 10/10 is a provisional 10/10 but still a 10/10 nevertheless.
...which one would you say are the best out these three gillettes from your lots experience?
