Christmas Raffle

Seems like we might be able to get this off the ground then. (Sorry for hijacking your thread Prof)

Maybe we could set up up a poll to see which charity to donate to this year? I've no qualms about about who we raise money for really, lets just not give it to donkeys or cats eh.

Wow! That's much better. I don't have a particular charity in mind, so I'm happy to go along with the majority view. If I had to choose I would go for Help For Heroes.

A bigger prize for the winner, rather than lots of smaller prizes? Okay, that works for me too.

We need a mod to work out the treasurer thing though. I would suggest it would be easier if the treasurer had a paypal account, that makes it so much easier for everyone.

See prof, just need to get the formula right for things to catch on ;)

Sorry if I may be a debbie-downer on this, but I'll support anything (research, illnesses, kids foundations etc..), but nothing armed forces related.. sorry, just me though.

Something like this I like: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.clowndoctors.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.clowndoctors.co.uk/</a><!-- m --> or this <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.havenrefuge.org.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.havenrefuge.org.uk/</a><!-- m --> (presuming we're going for a UK charity)

Cheers,

Max

The missus' old man has Parkinson's. That's one helluva nasty things to live with, though I appreciate that there are no sliding scales of 'worseness' for these kinds of diseases/illnesses/conditions.

So any charity like that (Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, etc) would get my vote. You know that they need all the money they can get and they must just be about the most horrific things that you could get struck down by – I've watched the outlaw go from a sprightly builder to a near-disabled guy before my very eyes. It's a terrible thing, especially as there's nothing anyone can do about it – I cannot imagine living with it, and I have nothing but admiration for those unfortunate people that do.

Well guys this seems to be a good idea that a lot of people will be intrested in. We really need to do a poll for the charity to make life easy. Also who ever is organising it needs to decide what the prizes will be post up what is needed to see if we can get a little vendor contribution or even sell at cost for items. Also some people may be able to contribute some of the items.
So whats it to be say 3 prizes.

first
second
third

The raffle to be drawn by a random number generator.

Children's Charity works fine for me (As do Dementia or Marie Curie). Here in Sotland we have a Children's Hospice @ Balloch which provides both care for terminal cases & respite breaks for Mum & Dad to have a break also. Don't know if there is any type of national Hospice Association. However got to agree that I can't see anyone objecting to helping children.

If this goes ahead I can't help feeling that, as someon e has suggested, it would be nice if Boab got final selection after all the work he (& others) put into TSR.

Anyway, Prof B, I think you've had a good idea & I hope it gets to work out. I'm still in & promise not to throw a senior tantrum whichever good cause benefits.
