I wasn't one for much more than shaving with a Wilkinson Retractor and whatever bar soap was kicking around whichever bathroom I found myself in. But likewise, once I'd bought a "nice" Gillette Sensor, I am pretty sure that Gillette Series Cool Wave was my first splash.
I have a bottle of Wild Rain from that era (circa 1993/1994) - remember that the original Cool Wave was different graphically. This bottle is from the second release - they sold as Crisp and Fresh. I think that graphical refresh came with the Arctic Ice circa 2000? This bottle is from this second phase but still has proper oakmoss in.

I started shaving and quickly found if I didn't use an alcoholic post shave product I'd get spots and bumps, still something which I still get. I remember buying the Cool Wave myself when I was 14 or so, so that'd be mid 90's.
I still love good marine style splashes probably since my association from Cool Wave.
Interesting it might have been your first splash as well!
I love their graphics from the 90's. Does the real oakmoss make a difference?
