SOTD 25-Oct
20221024_125840.jpg
Brush: Boti NC Chubby 30mm
Soap: NO Plunder
Razor: Blackland Tradere
Blade: 7 O'Clock SP (1)
Post: NO Plunder AS & EDP

Good shave this morning, new run for the assembled Boti. The knot is a dense beast, bloomed crazily, and the size is pure overkill but curiosity got the better of me. Might take me a little to get used to the loading but it feels nice.

Overall decent and just about ready to get the day underway, hope everyone has a good one!

Cheers

Marc

Razor: 1924 Ever Ready Shovelhead
Blade: Gem By Personna SS, 1st use
Brush: Simpsons Chubby 3 Sovereign Grade
Bowl: Captains Choice Heavyweight Copper Bowl
Preshave: Proraso Blue Prebeard Cream
Soap: Phoenix And Beau Icini Croap
Aftershave: Southern Witchcrafts Lycanthropy Aftershave

Continuing with the GEM theme week todays it's the turn of the 1924 Ever Ready Shovelhead (I think). Bit of a sod to load the blade compared with the other razors this week. It's not intuitive.

P&B soap was its usual outstanding self though. Razor was more aggressive than the last one, in fact it was so aggressive that after the shave it took my watch and wallet. A few nicks and weepers that I put down to a new blade and a healthy dose of razor burn that I put down to driver error. You definitely have to pay attention to angle with this puppy. Back to my hawk tomorrow before continuing GEM week.

The easiest way is to place the blade as far back as it will go and once flat just slide it forward. It's easy once you know how! :)

Another impressive shave with the Tatara razor this morning. The Personna is a blade that seems to work well in this razor producing a smooth shave and a close finish. The Extro is a good soap producing plentiful rich lather with the little Yaqi brush.

Razor: Kriss Kross, 1926 patent out of St.Louis Missouri
Blade: Schick injector slightly modded to get a decent blade fit in the head
Brush: no name synthetic re-knot

The KK handle is permanently attached to the head and folds flat for convenience and when opened can give various angles of attack during the shave presumably to get into difficult to get at parts. I didn’t know what to expect but the shave turned out very mild, clean, with no issues. 3 passes and pick ups and final polish with Mach 3. Another very usable vintage razor for my growing collection, certainly not a display item. Will make a very convenient travel razor.
Have a great day fellas!

decisions decision! It’s a pity that nobody has come up with a brush that allows you to change out the knot to whatever takes your fancy on the day in the way that we can choose blades for our razors.

Actually they do exist. Some Mühle knots are interchangeable as are some of the brushes from Boti.

Alpha also make a version of the Outlaw with interchangeable ferrules that you can install your own knots in.
.....and although I know it's harder to get on the other side of the pond there is the Rubberset 400 which started it all. I just saw one for $29 on ebay last night I couldn't pass up and haveit coming...........like I need another.........

Pre - Palmolive Sea Minerals
Brush - Yaqi Plissoft 22mm
Soap - Palmolive Stick
Razor - Gillette Rocket
Blade - Astra Stainless (6)
Post - Witch Hazel
AS - Brut Oceans

My sadness with the discontinuation of the humble green Palmolive Shaving Stick remains, but it's lather was truly glorious.

A lovely shave.

Have a good day gents.

What else to say when a lather as good as this from the soap...just wow!
Nice shave with this razor ignored since Aug. Refreshed the edge on the La Lune with slurry then oil. Crisp and smooth enough in 3passes for a ccs-sas finish but perhaps the edge can be improved further...

Tuesday

Seeing as I got my London marathon ballot result yesterday and it was in the positive, I have used Signature Londinium.

Superb as usual from the signature. The shave, using the diagonal single pass that I saw in an old Gillette advert wasn't too bad. I did dial up the slim to a setting of 8 for the single pass. Reasonable results.
Is it super smooth? No, but who keeps rubbing their face, with/cross/against their usual growth? Not me anyway.
Would it pass an Army parade inspection? Yes, most likely!
Was it quicker than usual? Yes, about 5 minutes tops.
Am I happy with it? Yes.

Enjoy your Tuesdays all
