Ever Ready 1914 & GEM by Personna (1)
Gillette Series Wild Rain (Vintage) Aftershave
We don't hear much about the 1914 ...
Remember, in 1914, this was the Ever-Ready brand competition to the GEM Damaskeene since the 1912 as it's called did not come about until 1919. From my analysis of the razor (see: https://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/co...-1924-identification.25875/page-2#post-837536) we can see that it did survive across the 1919 breakpoint and with those capless Test Outfits, it did seem that the 1914 had more to offer ASR ... but it would appear to dwindle into the annals of history and by 1924, there was a replacement issued in.
It should be more celebrated!
What's the Wild Rain aftershave like? The 90's Gillette Cool Wave aftershave is the first aftershave I ever bought, and I do quite like their aftershaves.
I saw a new one for sale but haven't seen any user reports for it just yet.
Ive no more of the Wicstun soap left. Its all used.Help me out here - I don't understand what you mean by this.
I'm with you now - it's lasted you since February. I thought you meant it was a Russian soap!!Ive no more of the Wicstun soap left. Its all used.
You can see that they were going for a lighter Brut or a Boss Sport as it's very much in the same vein, but more crisp and appley. Not a lot of scent after the initial blast, but that's to be expected with an aftershave.
I think Cool Wave might well have been my first intentionally bought aftershave as well. Shaving was purely functional and done with any disposable, whatever soap was on the side of the sink and a rinse. I think I was married before I took shaving even slightly seriously and bought a (posh) Gillette Sensor and a bottle of splash.
I celebrate mine!Monday 29th August
