1st use of the NOS Schick band razor, i had never seen one of these before and took a punt, what could possibly go wrong, i mean they were made for a good few years before their demise. I usually take other peoples reviews with a "pinch of salt" as we all know everyone is different and i do like to try things out for myself.
Therefore:-
A nice shower to soften the stubble and a great face lather just enjoying the scent and feel of the brush on the face, i had a really nice creamy, slick covering in no time. This razor unlike the Techmatic is not adjustable, what you see is what you get. I started off using the flat to the face angle and found quickly i had to drop the handle until i could feel the blade cutting, and it did just that, again similar to the Techmatic its feels smooth rather than sharp if that makes any sense, you can feel it cutting although its not an uncomfortable shave, and to be honest it seemed to smooth out even more as i dialled it in.
I completed a full 3 pass shave and at no time did i think i was going to get bitten or snagged, a very comfortable shave.
A nice dollop of Barts Balm and lotion finishing with a rub of the OSP splash, i did get a tiny bit of indication but nothing much.
So there you have it, a very comfortable DFS++ shave from a very mild and capable razor (for me).
Again, like the Techmatic i think it would struggle on a stronger beard. I also need to improve my angle technique over and under my chin.
Oh! one thing i have found out, The Schick cart fits the Gillette razor, but the Gillette cart does not fit the Schick, very sneaky on the part of Schick and maybe part of the reason why Gillette shelved their band razor as the Schick blade is reputedly longer lasting.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All

The soap is my most refreshing and invigorating one. And the razor, although good, is the least smooth of my double edges, resulting in quite a burn when I applied the aftershave.

i just love this razor and i don’t think i use it enough.
The Brush was a first for me and just like yesterday’s shave The High Mountain is so soft & a dream to use.
And another first for me with the soap
Absolutely class like all Artisans seem to be,
Not a scent i was overly familiar with but my wife liked it more than me really.
Which leads me to the lotion & Balm
i have to question whether there’s better balms out there for the same money.
@BartsBalm are at the top of their game for me & it’s a balm i reckon i’ll be using for many a year.

Razor: Razorock Hawk V3A
Blade: Feather Pro, 1st use
Brush: ZENITH Unbleached bristle chrome handle 2000 C XSE
Bowl: 3D Printed Bowl
Preshave: PAA Cube Unscented Soap
Soap: Phoenix and Beau Star Noir Puck
Aftershave: Jean Paul Gautier Le Male EDT
Balm: Proraso Crema Liquida Dopobarba Balm
Additional Care: Osma Laboratoires Alum Block

It’s official I’m down the rabbit hole! I couldn’t resist trying the Hawk out and I loved it! Again a silky smooth shave no nicks and Just quick and simple. Its the A plate but felt mid aggressive at most. It was just a delightful shave.
I’m not sure why P&B soaps have a reputation for being a little hard to lather, both I’ve tried have been a delight and simple to load and lather. I genuinely think this may be one of my top 3 favourite soap bases, it’s just a shame I was underwhelmed by the scent. It’s lovely just not a favourite so I’m being a bit more ruthless and moving it on.
All in all a great shave though, enjoy the rest of the evening guys.

Imperial Leather Shaving Bowl (Vintage)
Mohawk 5-341 w/PurTech Synthetic 22mm
Microtome Kamisori
Imperial Leather Aftershave (Vintage)

I spotted a couple of lovely posts this morning with @chard52142 and @MarkP using their Kamisori razors and I vowed to dust mine off ...

I have had a couple of proper Japanese through my hands (a Yamamasa 山正 5/8 and a Tosuke 藤助 9/16 Stainless) but sold them on. One of the very few straight razors I kept was this microtome that was converted by @UKRob into a Kamisori-style. The microtome is a laboratory blade that is hollow ground only on one side. I don't know a great deal more about this razor, other than I liked it enough to keep it when I sold off all my straights.

EDIT: I found Rob's original post showing how he converted the blade into the razor above.

The edge was sound enough, but it has been a while so I slipped it across 0.25u diamond sprayed neoprene and then gave it a score of laps each side on leather ... which was going to be my theme for this shave anyway, using my newly acquired vintage Imperial Leather soap and aftershave.

It has been a long time since I used a straight, but clicked back in easily enough ...

Two passes and I was happy. It's not as close as I would have liked, or could have got when I used straights more regularly but it was what you'd call a good (enough) shave. More importantly, it was a lot of fun and put a huge smile on my face using this razor again.

The Imperial Leather soap and splash were exactly as expected: vintage goodness, which is something I like. Double big smile.

... and now, after this rather late shave, to bed.

Greetings,

Early morning shave,

The Eco Warrior soap bar provided a wonderful slick lather rubbing it directly into my stubble like a shave stick, then started to build up a lather with my damp Semogue 1470 adding water to the tips of the brush to get the lather to the consistency that i prefer.

A enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of Wilko Lemon & Black Pepper Body Butter.

My face is feeling smooth cool, & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Brush: C&H 'Casanova'
Soap: DG Contemplation
Razor: Blackland Dart
Blade: GSB (3)
Post: Cold Water and DG Contemplation

Close shave with the dart this morning after managing to pick one up at a reasonable price...I've become a big fan of blacklands machined style, roll on the new set of vector releases!

DG performed wonderfully, the Contemplation scent is a good one but prefer the Apogee. Need to look at more wintery scents and see if one takes my fancy.

Hope everyone has a cracking day!

Cheers

Brush Yaqi 24mm Silvertip
Razor Friedr Herder Abr. Sohn 77
Aftershaves Stirling Witchhazel MitA + Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic Splash
The soap smells good off the tub..pineapple and menthol. The lather was great...very cooling, nice scent...the strength just nice. It was nicely creamy and quite slick too...no regrets!
Shave with the razor was very nice...great contrast to hear and feel the thin hollow edge after a few sessions with a wedge. The razor was keen yet smooth and very comfortable. 3passes for a dfs result. Aftershaves were excellent.

Jealous of that beautiful handle.

I couldn't resist and now sport a very clean shaven mush. At least DFS+.
I thought it was quite intuitive to get the angle on it. That and I've watched a few of the you tubers cracking on with injector types since my winning bid. I look forward to getting the Parker version that's currently winging it's way to me. That just means I have to buy a few magazines of blades to try out!
The feedback from the splash tells me 2 passes was enough though.
Stay safe people.
Gary
