Hi! Shave #10:
zc4vBo6.jpg

Pre: homemade olive oil soap.
Lather: Joserra Blas de Lezo Spanish Shavers LE.
Brush: CRV SCNHG LE 2018.
Razor: ATT Calypso SE1.
Blade: Titan Mild (#1).
Post: Joserra Blas de Lezo Spanish Shavers LE.
Take care and have a nice day!

There's a nice black one here for less than £2K :D

You couldn't give me a oneblade.

Yet another shave - day and a half after previous one... can't believe that with cartridges I used to shave once a week only, yet now I'm looking forward to it so much that the frequency increased a lot!

Pre: hot shower + hair conditioner on beard, bluebeards revenge pre-shave oil
Brush: Black Omega 49 Professional boar
Soap: reef point soaps - espresso
Razor: Rockwell 6s (plate 3)
Blade: Gillette Nacet (2)
Post: Cold water, Alum block, cold water again then Pinaud Vanilla splash

I must say I'm starting to like 6s more and more. It's second outing now and performed really well! Quite impressed with nacet too - performed beautifully going through my coarse stubble! Nice, smooth and even ATG pass felt much more effortless than with other razors. Technique is definitely slowly improving.

About 3 weeks into shaving - since this time it was a 3 pass shave, got slight feedback from alum in 3 places, however nothing as strong as previously. WTG, XTG and ATG - I'd say this. time achieved DFS++ or maybe BBS-- Majority of face I can't feel the hair at all, however few problem spots for me (edge of chin, neck area in couple places) still have a bit of hair when going ATG.

On a side note - does anyone know of any site that does a trial box of various splashes/aftershaves/balms? Quite enjoy the Pinaud Vanilla in comparison to my usual nivea sensitive aftershave balm (just trying to use that up nowadays to be honest), or to proraso red ASL.

Quite happy that I have started on the wet shaving journey opposite to just using cartridges and canned goo... It takes 'edge' off things, gets mind concentrated on one action and feels like a small ritual that takes you away from reality for a bit! I'm hooked!

Fri 19th SOTD
Soap Zingari Man Nomad
Brush Yaqi 24mm Purple Mink
Razor Karve Brass SB-F
Blade Gillette Nacet Stainless 2nd
Post & Aftershaves Ice Water + Thayers + Hyaluronic + TGS Chronos
Reused previous-day lather. Still good enough and hate to waste the small amount of precious sample.
Finally found a good blade pairing with this razor's F-plate. Really smooth and comfortable for 3passes even for the most sensitive atg pass in the chin and lips area. The awesome result of the F-plate & blade painting was mostly BBS. Unfortunate to realize 2 tiny red spots later. Excellent aftershaves too...

Todays Shave Kit Friday 19th Feb 2021

Shave Score 8.0/10.0

PreShave: Hot Shower
PreShave Cream: Proraso Refreshing
Cream: Saponificio Bignoli - Agrumi Del Mediterraneo
Brush: Clear Confidence Co Synthetic Shaving Brush - Vegan-Friendly
Razor: Merkur Progress 500 (2.5, 2.5, 2.5)
Blade: Gillette Super Thin Platinum (4)
Post Shave: Stirling Shaving Co. Sharp Dressed Man ASL
Post Shave Balm: Stirling Shaving Co. Sharp Dressed Man Balm

I think the Gillette Super Thin Platinum was probably done at shave #3, had a fair bit a razor burn on my neck (XTG pass) and a weeper :(, either that or my normally good technique suddenly disappeared :)

Still all in all, a BBS shave non the less :)

Have a good weekend all.

Joe

Prep: Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap
Pre: Proraso Green
Soap: Executive Shaving Bay Rum Cream
Brush: Yaqi Mysterious Space Tuxedo
Razor: Shaving Factory SF289
Blade: Tiger Platinum (1)
Post: Alum, Benjamin's Bay Rum, Nivea Balm

I returned to my ritual of putting any first-time blade through the SF289, and was horrified by how poor the quality of the finish was. Duff blade? Poor technique? What's changed? I swapped the blade out and ran it through the Parker Interceptor for an immediate clean pickup, and a DFS. I'm beginning to think that I've previously settled for mediocre, and the Fatboy and Parker (and my little Tech) have moved my technique on to where the shave feels as easy as it did at the beginning with the SF289, but where previously I might have got bitten. The only full comparison will be to revist my full original shave kit, so next time out will be: with no finery except for a bit of balm afterwards.
Have a good weekend, gents.

Always a pleasure to use the Rex and today was no exception, especially when you add the Danum soap into the mix.
BBS from 3 very comfortable passes and a very nice post shave routine.
I dropped the Duke 2 the other day and i have chipped the handle, it still works OK but i am a bit gutted.
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.
