SOTD: Saturday 21st - Friday 27th December 2019

A bit of time off to pop in on the family before I work the Christmas shift did allow for a 'choose your weapon' shave. And my chosen theme was 'The 12 shaves of Christmas'

IMG_20191223_175225.jpg

Five golden things - Brass Colonial
Nine bladies blading - Kai Captain
Two turtle brushes - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
Six soaps a lathering - Acqua Di Parma
A fragrance in a pear tree - Penhaligon's Bayolea

Kind of rushing around here and between jobs at work so a quick summary.

'Oh Mummy, Daddy has just had the most fucking awesome shave'

An absolute belter of a shave, feeling wonderful and smelling even more so. Life can be good. So good it is back to work with my motley crew

Have a most bodacious and wonderful Christmas all you brilliant people on this forum

And yet another Christmas song to see you through this festive time......

SOTD 12/24/19

Merry Christmas to all on this 24th day of Decadent December, Christmas Eve. My new-old LaResche 77 arrived from France yesterday. After cleaning and sanitizing it, I decided to shave with it today. Although it is an intimidating looking design, some have described it as the best safety razor design ever. And I believe it after using it! The first pass WTG took the whiskers down to the skin line. One more ATG pass cleared the facial whiskers. I didn't need more than one pass on the dome. I love my Shake Sharps, but this razor is in another category altogether! The designers at LaResche knew their business! I really enjoyed this effortless BBS shave! I feel smoooooth, refreshed and clean!

Sotd - yesterday - Monday the 23rd of December

Prep - facial scrub
razor - Slim Aristocrat (3)
blade - Wilkinson Sword (5)
brush - Chubby 1 best
soap - Ariana & Evans - St. Barts - tallow
post - rosewater toner
a/s - Ariana & Evans - St Barts
balm - none needed
scent - Ariana & Evans - St Barts edp.

Result - great - a superior shave - the first use of an A&E soap was very good indeed for me. Given what is in it - this was never really in doubt - all manner of things my skin is going to like -

'Stearic Acid, Beef Tallow, Goats Milk, Shea Butter, Potassium Hydroxide, Kokum Butter, Mango Butter, Glycerin, Cocoa Butter, Castor Oil, Manteca (Pig Fat), Strangisto Giaourti (strained yogurt), Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, Camellia Oil from Japan, Sodium Hydroxide, Lanolin, Agave, Bentonite Clay, Beeswax, Sodium Lactate, Argan Oil, Fragrance & EO's'

Manteca? Something I had only ever seen Spaniards spreading on toast for breakfast - but I guess fat is fat when it comes to soap making.

What ever you are up to tomorrow - have a great time. Enjoy your shaves - yours - I.

@Guy1307 - thanks.

A very satisfying Christmas Morning Shave using my "back from the grave" Kampfe which i cleaned up after buying it for buttons (I am calling it my #2).
Using the Williams i resurrected my Old Wade scuttle (although the puck is dwarfed in the soap dish top - re think required).
A good loading with the damp JR#355 brush and a face lather, i had a nice covering in no time.
2 passes WTG & XTG with the lather Catcher leaving me with an SAS finish (still learning with angle etc to go ATG), however its Christmas so i completed a buffing pass using My very smooth Karve stainless Steel.
The brush held enough soap for 3 passes plus and the lather held up really well.
Nothing from the block and a nice post shave routine has set me up for a busy day ahead visiting and socialising.
So, its on with the Christmas Jumper and the festivities can start.
Have a great Christmas All
