Wish Me Luck....

Careful, there's worms in that can ...

I have heard it suggested that the British and USA models differ in terms of shave, but it will be absolutely negligible. One difference is between the older and the newer types - older style has a curved head, newer is straight. The older is apparently more aggressive.

GEMs were never made in Britain and British Made Every Ready 1912s didn't start until 1930. 1919 was the big year when GEM and Ever Ready (well, ASR) came together and at this point, a number of sets continued with the Damaskeene style head (the curved head).

Look out for New DeLuxe models for the curved head, or Damaskeene.

From what I understand, that is the only key difference in terms of shave. For comfort, I find the very late British ER with lightweight aluminum handles to be the most comfortable. Sort of like how Gillette Techs went all lightweight in their later years.

So, curved head ... the only difference? Anyone know any more?

Yeah ... just like that.

Here's a different style:

... and to illustrate what I meant by curved vs straight:

The left-most is the curved cap, the right-most straight. The two in the middle are also straight but the one left/middle has a very slight curve on it.
