SOTD: Saturday 6 April - Friday 12 April 2024.

And as my final entry for this past week of SOTD's I give you today's shave which is duly themed, 'Malta'. Because that is where I am at the moment.

Malta. Famous for falcons, crosses and little balls of chocolate with a light honeycomb centre.

Maltese razor - Occams Enoch
Maltese blade - Schick Proline
Maltese brush - PAA Peregrino
Maltese soap - Bath House Cuban Cedar and Lime
Maltese moisturiser - Collagen
Maltese scent - M&S Spiced Amber
Malteesers - Little balls of chocolate...........

'I am not a falcon and I don't come from bloody Malta. So sod off'

A fantastic three pass shave which makes me thankful for not having to walk in the rain for a change.

These are not Maltese, but it is a Friday and there is only one way to end...

I love you all

Trumpers Almond (Vintage) Shaving Bowl & Omega 98 Professional Pure Bristle
Ever-Ready Streamline (1950s) & GEM by Personna (5)
Novaya Zarya Russian Forest Cologne (as Aftershave)

Switching to my newly acquired vintage Trumpers for a Friday shave ...

The blade is now very smooth and I had an absolutely delightful shave! The soap is nothing like I expected, thinking it would be marzipan almond like the Italian soaps but no, it's a sweet almond with an earthy back note. Lovely! The splash worked very well with it; in fact, would have worked very well with the Floris Elite I've been shaving with all week.

Sun is out, finally!

Have a great weekend, folks!

No prizes for guessing which excellent low cost soap I used today.

That's right: Palmolive cream.

An excellent shave. The Schrägschnitt brings out the best of this cheap but respectably-performing blade and the Pino Silvestre topped it off with its (to me) basil-heavy and pine-light fragrance.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Razor: Neo Lux Schrägschnitt
Blade: Fly Dear Super Platinum
Brush: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Amber Aerolite Stygian Synthetic
Lather: Palmolive Shaving cream
Aftershave: Pino Silvestre Aftershave spray

And this little piggie, shave
331BCCE0-5F39-4CE7-AA9E-60C5C65B35B6.jpeg
Prep - hot shower, lather face wash
Bowl - DSCosmetic green bowl
Soap - Kent shaving soap (with a shot of Nivea Liquid Shaving Cream)
Brush - Omega Pro 49 boar
Razor - Muhle R89 Twist
Blade - Derby Premium (2)
Post - lather remains face wash, cold rinse, alum block
Splash - Forest Fresh ASL
Balm - Nivea Sensitive Cool PSB
Fragrance - Mastermind Vintage EDT

A very good, almost BBS (although not deliberately so) shave. This razor and blade combo suits me well, and the big Omega was a revelation, lathering a bowlful of goodness in seconds. With the Nivea added the Kent lather is stable but not as slick as I would like so you actually use all that you make, which is fine. End result felt and smelled great.

I didn’t hear any piggie noises.
No,it’s okay, it’s just a brush, not actual livestock!
Pity!
What?
Nothing.

Tallow Tabac found for me by Shubs, which is everything I hoped. The little Yaqi Moka Express never fails (OK, unless it was with a dud Kent fat). Razorock Hawk V3A and a brand new Kai "pink". Job's a good un. Sun risy in the urdy morny, removey-most of the stubblode. Stay cool won't you?

A fan of the late professor Stanley Unwin I’m guessing?
