SOTD 26/9/17

Brush: Semogue 830
Soap: Fine American Blend
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue Stainless (4)
Razor: Fatip Piccolo
AS: Fine American Blend
Balm: Nivea Men
Mug: Muhle

First shave with an open comb, considering The Piccolo is classed as an aggressive razor, I gave it very light strokes, and in a 2 and a half pass shave, it rewarded me with the best shave I've ever had ! That was with a 2 day growth, I'm converted. A fantastic little razor !

Razor - Mergress (3.5)
blade - Gillette SB (3)
brush - Stirling two-band fan
soap - Bol a Razor tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea Sensitive
balm - Neil's Lime (c).

Result - spectacular.

Sometimes the best shaves just come from nowhere. I was a bit meh meh about it tonight - I think that having spent weeks on a couple of experiments controlling what kit I use, I'm getting a bit bored with it - not bored but it doesn't suit my character. Standing in front of the table of shaving porn in the upstairs hall deciding not what I want to use but what can I use - that's getting harder. I was going to use MT Dark Limes to match the second lot of the test balm - but my face said 'tallow,' - I'm so glad I listened. The soap is neutrally scented so that was fine. It's a great performer - you can almost hear it moo as you lather. In current times I think we are blessed with the quality of gear and the prices these days? This brush is a good example - it is superb for me. Super-soft tips but a relatively short loft and fan shape. A lovely big M7 type handle - mine is butterscotch. For an astonishingly reasonable price. Maseto springs to mind obviously too. Only the third spin with the Mergress - a classic razor done even better.

So - a stellar shave out of very low expectations. The best kind I think?

Oh - I don't think I can say this out loud - but I'm rather taken withe the Nivea alcohol-free aftershave - I've mostly been using it because it doesn't really smell of anything but does actually work well for me. I notice people using the Two Phase version. Might try that. - Enjoy your shaves one and all - Iain.

Soap: SV Dolomiti. Thank you so much @wayne mattison This is a soap that is truly amazing.
Brush: Maseto 26mm silvertip.
Post: Thayers Witch Hazel.
EDT: L'Occitaine Cade

It is a sad day for me.
I have to let this beautiful razor go.

My last shave was such an amazing experience, despite the fact that she gave me a "love bite" before she continued on her journey.
A kiss below my nose that really will leave an ever lasting thought. :)

All I can say is that I am in love with this razor and I recommend to everyone to have a go with it. Simply divine.

Enjoy your shaves everyone,
Wayne :)

Although I have quite a few of what may be considered expensive soaps and I think they are worth every penny, I have to say the soaps like Monsavon and Vitos which are a fraction of the price weight for weight are outstanding and i have even come to like the humble Palmolive stick, so I have soaps that cost a £1 for 100 gms up to soaps costing £20 for 100gms and everything inbetween and I enjoy them all. I know what you are saying about almost hearing the "Moo" with the Monsavon, a fantastic soap that i would be happy to buy if it did cost more than it does. P. :)

I know what it's like Wayne, too pass back a Cobra but at least we have had the pleasure of using a fantastic Razor such as it is, I felt much the same way after a spell with the Bunny SE, another great razor but at least there is the chance to get your hands on a cobra albeit a slender one but as for the bunny all I will ever have is memories, alas it is not going to be a produced, so sad......chin up tomorrow is another day and another razor, life goes on :) P.

Old Spice Shave Mugs & Coffee Mug

Blue/Black Shaving Mug 1985
This mug is heavy pottery with a deep blue or black glaze and was sold in two different gift sets in 1985. One set included a shaving brush and razor while the other included only the brush. The only decoration is the single white ship in silhouette. I believe this may have been distributed outside the U.S. market because it is dated 1985 yet the packaging is not consistent with the 1981 logo change. The back of the box is marked "Old Spice Accessories made under license from Shulton, Inc. 1985" "Made in Taiwan R.O.C. for Cosrich Inc., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861" Dimensions: 3.25" high by 5" rim to handle.

Morning Refresher Coffee Mug 1984-1985
This coffee mug was part of a gift set aftershave and shave cream.

Prep....Shower ~ Donkey milk soap
Razor....Clonial Razors ~ General in Brass
Blade....Feather Pro Super
Soap....M-T ~ Dark limes
Brush....Semouge SOC Badger
Scuttle....Giles Shaving Co
Post....BBA Post Shave Balm
Scent....Sublime Vanille, Creed copy oil from Mr Perfume

A shave with one of my top three modern SE razors, The General in Brass fitted out with a Pro Super.
The lather from the M-T Dark Limes was superb whipped up and painted on with my trusty SOC Badger.
The fragrant lather was warmed throughout the shave by one of my best buys of late the Giles Scuttle, such a differance to have warm lather applied to my boat on these cooler mornings.
The shave as normal with this razor and blade combo was nothing short of perfect, real close but real smooth too and my light touch was rewarded with an extremely smooth face with zero irritation , just the way I like it. :)
Finnishing off with The BBA PSB and then a few dabs here and there with the Sublime Vanille .

Wishing you all a fab Friday.......:)
