Gillette New Improved Tuckaway (1921)

Well that's another razor I can't recall anyone I know having another. Is that chrome or silver plate?

Very nice,

Martin

Thanks Martin.
It's a Silver plated one, the case is in yesterdays photo. You should have seen it before I cleaned it up !
I'm looking for the NEW deluxe ones in Chrome and Gold, but that's another day :icon_rolleyes:

Second day with the French Famex. I've figured out that I much prefer the baseplate mounted as in the photo below as it gives a more aggressive shave.
The shave wasn't as excellent as yesterday's which I think in part was due to the Bigelow shaving cream (first time using it).
It lathered really, really well (see 2nd photo) but when shaving I felt it was lacking in protection.

Razor: Famex w/ Gillette Common bar handle
Blade: Rapira
Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
Soap: Bigelow shaving cream
A/S: Provence Sante

I think I mentioned having the Chromium New Deluxe set years ago and that thing was a few notches up from the Tuckaways in the bite area. Plus it's heavy and has the short handle like the others do, which I don't care for.

Lots of times you use real aggressive razors and I don't know how you do it. It's a gift though.

I could just barely even shave with the Deluxe but my buddy has it now and it's his favorite razor.

That razor did shine like crazy.

Many thanks to Steve for the extremely generous loan of his Mongoose.
What a shaver it is! Played it safe with the Feather Pro Guard blade first - an easy, effortless and very quick shave with no irritation, weepers and very little sting from the AS.
I can see me needing one of these!

Pre shave Nanny's Old Grey Bristle Test Coconut Milk Pre Shave Soap
Soap Nanny's Signature Moroccan Sands
Brush EJ best badger
Blade GEM stainless
Razor Damaskeen with custom template handle
Apres witch hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm, Euphoria cologne

The Nanny's pre shave and Signature soap gave a very slick lather as I'm sure some of you already know.
I already rate the Damaskeen as a razor, but the new handle raises it to another level. With very little effort, the added weight aiding the shave, the knurling making it very controllable despite its size.
