Ahem,

Put my name down for some . . . if you're struggling, like.

Re: Soap Makers challenge - Imperial Leather (IL) shaving so

Well, I have 3 or 4 tubs worth of the stuff left, so if anyone is brave enough to try some...

It's is a slightly strange scent - the two primary notes in the Imperial Leather hand soap that I was given are coumarin (tonka bean) and 'aldehydes' (meaning short/intermediate chain fatty aldehydes). I used C12-aldehyde and coumarin, and those two notes are quite incisive in my blend, more so than in real IL soap.

It seems we all fell down on producing or reproducing an Imperial leather scent.

Thread resurrection. I'd love to have tried these three.

I have two vintage Imperial Leather soaps (one from the 60s or 70s and one judging by the "Chubby" patent and advertising I've found is from 1956 or later (but probably not much later?). The latter has no IL smell left and the former a tiny bit (or maybe I'm trying too hard to find it). I'd love to get a fragrance oil mixed up for them but I think that might be a flight of fancy...
... I have asked Kim at scent from heaven if she's ever been asked to make an approximation before.

Actually, Antdad should have a go at this; the man has a nose like a blood hound. :) My own attempt became Arabian Nights....think it's out of stock at the moment; but not to worry, as it does't smell like Imperial Leather at all.
