*The Jury is still out on my new 12C. It feels like it's doing a lot of work, but I get closer shaves with a Superspeed than I have with the 12C so far.

**Brought my badger out for a run. When you haven't used a badger brush for a long time, then go back to one, you realise just how bloody good they are.

***Tried the alum again, after reading more about it on here. Left it on my face for a very short time. Quick rinse with warm water, then alum - dried the alum block and put it away, then rinsed the alum of with warm water, then cold. Seems better.

A DFS despite being a morning shave and as such a little more hurried than an evening one as Saturday is still a work day! Next to no irritation, a couple of small nicks sorted out by the Alum. As my experience increases I suspect I shall do more morning shaves!

That's how I did it when I began. Evening shaves at first, and then a one pass before work, and then onto a full shave before work.

Saturday evening.

Prep: Wash face with glycerin soap, lather face massage, hot towel.
Soap: MWF.
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best.
Razor: 5/8ths Pierre Thiers Hand Forged.
AS: Thayers Witch Hazel followed by Proraso Balm & Splash.

How could I not have a great shave with a razor that looks like this?

It seems that to get the best out of the 12C, you need to go ATG. I don't do that normally, and this morning I did and got a good shave. I'm not sure if the 12C is here to stay.

Seems that my error with the alum was to rinse it off with cold water rather than warm. A warm water rinse gets it all off.
