Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

EJ DE89 with a feather blade (3)
Vulfix 2235 super badger brush
Palmolive cream

Boots Freshwood ASB mixed with Kuros EDT

A DFS in fact virtually BBS very close.

1st try out of the 2235 brush, previously using a boar brush the lather developed from Palmolive cream has been poor compared to my soaps. The 2235 is a soft brush in comparison but whipped up a fine lather from the Palmolive in no time truth be told it was way too much for 4 passes.

Following a thread this week I decided to mix a squirt of Kuros EDT with some Boots Freshwood ASB which worked very well.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Sunday,

Gillette flair tipped rocket
Astra SP
Omega 10005
Palmolive stick
Alum
Ogalla Bay Rum lime & pepper corns - Thx Phil - AKA Bullgoose
Ems Bay Rum ASB

This Omega brush is doing a good job. It feels more like a silver tip badger than a boar, very soft indeed. It makes and holds a lather well.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Saturday Night

EJ 87 + IP
Vulfix Pure
Castle Forbes Lavender cream
KOS shave oil
Proraso balm
Creed MI

Smooth, trouble-free shave. Until the recent shavette experience, I'd forgotten how good the Proraso balm was: really leaves my skin feeling mint.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

1Gear - nice combo, straight plus the nice safe SS for tidy up.

I went back to the future today and used my Mach 3 using my usual three pass short stroke technique now developed with the DE. Very close shave. A little too close in fact, felt a little sore. In my old Mach 3 days I just scraped away in all directions. So much better with brush, soaps and three passes done systematically.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Gillette superspeed
Feather
Crabtree and evelyn sienna soap
Wilkinson sword brush
Alum
Nivea ASB

Not as smooth a shave as yesterday.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Monday

Muhle R41 OC
Derby Extra (2)
Semogue 1305
Palmolive SS

Old Spice AS
Nivea ASB

Splendid effort.

I almost always feel that face lathering, with a Palmolive SS, is hard work particularly after an ARKO or a Tabac SS. The result however is always worth the effort; I just wish that they were a larger size (whinge over!).

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Monday

Futur
Gillette Super Thin
Vulfix VS/3
Kent Soap
L'Occitane Cade asb

I'm impressed with this Super Thin blade.

Found the right razor/blade combination with Feathers. 'Bout bloody time...
