S.O.T.D. w/c Saturday 17th - Friday 23rd August 2013

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Trumper's Coconut Soap (soap of the week)
Brush: MÜHLE Kosmo silvertip fibre
Razor: Gillette English New Long + Weber Bulldog handle
Blade: Sputnik (2)
After: Superdrug Sierren Breeze AS, Limes Skin Food

Gave my bowl a rest today and applied the cream direct to face and then face lathered. I wish I hadn't bothered. I get loads of lather on the first pass but not enough on the following passes and it's difficult to keep a constant consistency.
I much prefer bowl lathering with creams as you always have a reservoir of lather to go back to and can control the quality of the lather.

Good results but would've enjoyed the shave more with a bowl.

I've only got one of Trumper's soaps/creams so will be coconutting again tomorrow.

Racer stainless (2)
Axe Denim shaving cream
Turkish no. 6
Short comb New
Groomed balm

Very good shave. I was going to use the all plastic Sik Bay razor I got as a freebie from Beatshave a few weeks ago but the thread snapped off when tightening it so into the bin it had to go.

Had to go off piste today in order to achieve a 5 minute shave:

Hot water
Boots no.7 shave gel
Gillette sensor 3 blade disposable (2nd use)
DR Harris Marlborough aftershave

2 passes - WTG and ATG - perfectly decent shave, I definitely have a lighter touch than before I started DE shaving and so it was much more comfortable than would previously have been the case.

However - I can also tell that there's a more 'gritty' feeling going ATG around my chin and top lip where the multiple blades drag through the tougher stubble. This used to result in very irritated skin with plenty of weepers - and I think it still would if I used a multiblade more than once in a while.

RazoRock XXX
New Forest Tubby 2
LC New/JEC handle

Just back from hol in France, have been using the following whilst away:

Palmolive stick
Vulfix Bodger
#11H New, Supermax SS / Wilkinson Sword SP / Gillette Bleue Extra
Barbershop Bay Rum / Mennen Skin Bracer / Mennen Green Tonic / Williams Aqua Velva

Bought the Mennen and Williams whilst away, all nice splashes. Picked up the Bleue Extra there too. They're OK for me, not great. Perhaps similar to a WS Classic.

Thayer's lavender witch hazel
DR Harris Arlington aftershave

Trumpers product of the week shave 1.

Confiança Veleiro pre-shave soap
Hot flannel prep
Proraso eucalyptus & menthol pre/post
Trumpers Coconut oil cream, face-lathered
Muhle Silvertip Fibre v2.0 23 mm knot
Merkur 34c
Gillette Nacet Stainless (2)
Barbershop Bay Rum AS

3 passes plus touch-ups, DFS result.

Used the bicarb water-softening technique (1/2 a teaspoon in the water); as with all Creighton's creams, without it, Trumpers seem to generate a frothy lather in my hard water. That being said, the coconut oil cream is superb - natural scent, lathers beautifully once the water has been softened a touch, and provides superb cushioning and lubrication.
