S.O.T.D. w/c Sat. 4th January - Friday 10th January 2014, incl.

Thursday evening

Fatip Grande
Laser Ultra
Omega Pro 48
Proraso Green Tub
Proraso splash

Had to change blades so only wanted a one shave and out blade so chose the Laser. Very shocked at how good it was last night in the Fatip. With a great lather from the Proraso/Omega combo I got a very comfortable close shave that is still feeling pretty good today. Think it is the third shave with a Laser Ultra I've had and by far the best, these things really aren't that bad. Just need to see if it's worth a second shave at some point as I always use them once and bin them.

Friday 10th Jan

Hot towel
La Toja stick (chopped into bowl)
'le Tuft' Custom Brush with Super Silvertip (sensuously soft)
Gillette Superspeed with Gillette Superthin Platinum
Macca root post shave cream
Floris No.89 EDT

Slow,, relaxing,, and most enjoyable shave:icon_smile:

Have a nice day,
Regards, beejay

Friday morning:

Cold water splash
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Morris & Forndran Blonde Badger
Weber Polished / Bulldog
Gillette 7 O'Clock Black (4)
Speick ASB

Excellent result this morning. I seem to get the best and most comfortable shaves with +/- 36 hours between shaves.

Feather AC SS non-folding
Feather AC ProGuard (3)
Semogue 1438 boar
Vitos Extra Super Coconut
Weleda After Shave Balm
Diptyque Tam Dao edt

I'm enjoying my fast, early morning, two pass shave with the Feather. Two weeks in and I'm getting consistent results. Not BBS as I came to expect with a three pass DE shave (DFS in reality) but no less satisfying.

The question is: when do I start selling some of my now 'surplus to requirements' DEs?

The next step is to try a Pro Blade after another week of Pro Guard shaves :)

I've been thinking about this, but I reckon I'll continue with the ProGuards for a couple of months yet while my muscle memory attunes to shaving with a straight blade.

Is there a notable difference when 'stepping up'?

Friday

Evening, everyone.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJDE89
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (7)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: Bath House Spanish Fig and Nutmeg
Aftershave: Pashana Bay Rum
Cologne: Chaps

A week of excellent shaves. I really enjoyed this blade.
The (fake?) Super Gillette Blues have arrived from Dealextreme. I'll be shaving with one of these from tomorrow. Gulp.

Pre: Proraso Pre-cream
Cream: Nancy Boy "Blossomwood"
Brush: Orchid Isles 24mm Silvertip on Curly Koa handle
Razor: E&J DE89 w/iKon handle
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (5)
Post: Thayer's Lemon witch hazel
ASB: Proraso balm

First time using the Proraso stuff. Heavy menthol kick from the preshave. This Nancy Boy cream makes a really slick lather. Definitely slicker than TOBS.

Headshave:
Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5
Clinique Aloe M Gel
YSL Kouros EDT

Now I know why I ditched the Hydro 3 - back to Gillette for next week's shave.

merkur 37c slant
supermax super platinum
omega 20102
panna crema namaste
pinaud clubman classic vanilla
boots no7 post shave balm

a rough shave tonight, first time in ages ive had to get the alum block out. i think i got a dodgy blade, after getting consistently excellent shaves i put a super plat in the other day and got a few weepers, then tonight in the slant was pretty rough with quite a few weepers. new blade in order.

Friday night ...

Hot Towel
Nuage Men PSO
Erasmic Shaving Cream
Edwin Jagger Pure Badger 21mm
GEM 1914
PAL Blue Carbon [1]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse, Alum Wash & Witch Hazel
Jovan Musk Aftershave/Cologne

Bowl Lathered
Three Pass - WXA

Erasmic is nice! Old fashioned smell and lathers up a beauty!

The blade is NOS. Rougher than the teflon coated GEMs, but a mile different to the uncoated blades I have. Two weepers, entirely without provocation, which disappeared as readily as they appeared. I reckon the blade is broken in now and the next shave with it will be fantastic! 1924 next time, this being my first run with the 1914. It's light, smooth and absolutely great to use. The 1912 still pips it, though, for me ...

Cheers all! Enjoy the rest of your Friday night and hope you have a great weekend.
