S.O.T.D. Saturday 26th July to Friday 1st August 2014

Greetings

Friday 1st July 2014
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Adjustable
Blade: Schick Super Stainless Plat. Edge NOS
Brush: Vie Long Horse
Cream: T&H No. 10
Aftershave: Astral Cream (light)

A super shave, early start as I am off down south for the weekend, inspite of a clear sky it seemed very late getting light this morning, sad to think that a large part of the Summer is behind us.

Regards
Dick.

Pre: RazoRock/HTGAM mentholated lime pre-shave soap
Soap: HTGAM Synergy 2.0 "Eh+"
Brush: Dymondwood 23mm TGN synthetic
Razor: Ikon OSS
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock green (4)
Post: Thayer's Lemon witch hazel, followed by HTGAM "Cold Spice"
A HTGAM day today! Wow, that Synergy 2.0 soap is a solid performer. Brush loaded quickly and built thick, slick lather without any drama. Lather has loads of residual slickness for between-pass touch-ups. 3-pass BBS and my skin is "singing" with the menthol hit. Wonderful start to the day.

Friday

RazoRock XXX
New Forest Tubby 2
Streamline
GEM blade
DR Harris Windsor AS

A fine result but this blade is on its way out, tugged a bit on the first pass.

Prep: Hot wash
Pre: Noxzema applied whilst building lather in bowl then washed off
Soap: Prof Blighty's Sandalwood
Brush: Vie-Long Horse
Razor: EJ89
Blade: Gillette Green stainless(1)
Post: Alum Block
AS: M&S Woodspice (still my favorite splash)

Nice and smooth this morning I managed a 4 pass with no irritation and a very nice result. Has to be one of the smoothest shaves yet, weather this is to do with the Noxzema I am not sure. I dont shave every day as my beard is a slow grower and I can manage quite nicely with an every other day shave.

Face wash with olive oil soap.
Proraso menthol pre shave.
Newly aquired Muhle R41 with rose gold handle.
Rapira platinum plus blade.
Kent best badger brush.
Mitchells wool fat/Ingrams super lather.

Result: bbs, no nicks or cuts and just a hint of alum sting under the chin.

Very pleased with the r41, it requires a very different angle and short strokes like an se but gave just as close a shave as i get with my 1924 shovelhead.
Not for quick shaves though

Friday

Afternoon, all.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Lidl's Cien Men two-blade cartridge
Blade: Cartridge (5)
Brush:
Shave cream: Gillette shave gel
Aftershave: Forest Fresh

Not a bad shave at all, visually. I'm fuzzier than usual, though.

Yorkshire Day shave

Warm shower
Hot flannel
Stroppe Shoppe Vivace bowl lathered
Finest Badger brush made by myself
Gillette Big Fellow New Improved Silver 1925
Personna Lab Blue (2)
Cold rinse
Thayers Lemon witch hazel
Myrsol F/Extra aftershave

Not done one for a while, so here goes.

Gillette Fat-handled Tech
Gilliette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge (yellow) Blade
Kent Infinity Silvertex Brush
D.R. Harris Eucalyptus Shaving Cream
444 A/S Gel

Bought the Kent in another attempt to acquaint myself with synthetic brushes, and for travel. Produces great lather (I palm lather), but applying it seems to be best done by painting rather than a traditional circular scrubbing. No issues, though, and enough lather for 2 passes.

The Harris cream is very nice for anyone that likes a bit of cooling, but not to Proraso levels, and I've used it solidly for the past 2 weeks.

The 444 has an insane amount of menthol, you know, the sort that gives off fumes that get in your eyes. Smells and feels nice, though.

Close, comfortable, refreshed.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Noxzema Face cleansing cream
Prep pre shave
Kent Luxury shaving cream
Custom 28mm 2 band London Plane Brush
Gem Damaskeene
Clubman Special Reserve

Wonderful shave, haven't shaved since Tuesday due to an accident involving one of my fingers and an injector blade....
All 1912 fans if you see a Damaskeene grab it, in my opinion it is the best 1912.

Happy Yorkshire Day!
