This Morning was all about the Lather
Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso preshave - sensitive
Soap: Sterling Bay Rum
Brush: MÜHLE Kosmo silvertip synthetic
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Razor: Merkur 37C Slant
Blade: Astra SP (1)
After: Barbershop Bay Rum, RCS ASB
I had been feeling a bit despondent about Sterling soap since a few members had sold on their recent booty or complained about the lather/scent. I was starting to think I'd been too hasty about buying 3 pucks.
So I gave it a good go, soaked the puck (in the tin) in the sink while I showered and decided to use my synthetic brush so no excuse about the brush eating up the lather.
I live in a slightly hard water area which I think gives me problems getting a decent lather. MWF is ok, but needs effort, NSS hard soap similarly and Trumpers Eucris was a no-start.
I guess I spent about 30 to 60 secs loading the brush. Lather started generating straight away on the brush and when I transferred to the bowl for lathering it just exploded. It took longer than Tabac for sure but not too long, definitely less than for MWF.
The scent was just like Barbershop Bay Rum, not too heavy just enough to freshen up your nostrils. Scent continued throughout the shave and the lather consistency was second to none. Move over Tabac, there's a new kid in town!
The lather did not collapse at all throughout 3 passes and was a joy to use.
I have two more pucks to try and 3 samples, so if they're all like this I'll be a very happy bunny.
I had to finish off with Barbershop Bay Rum to keep the theme and even had to choose an ASB that wouldn't overpower the bay rum scent.
Result: BBS from one of my most enjoyable shaves to date.
