S.O.T.D Sat. 19th Oct. to Frid. 25th Oct. 2013

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso preshave - sensitive
Soap: La Toja stick
Brush: Semogue 830
Razor: Fatip + templ8 handle
Blade: Sputnik (1)
After: Proraso AS, Proraso ASB

Once again La Toja works its magic, very easy to get this lather going. Even though the boar brush seemed to suck the lather out on the later passes, a quick wipe on the soap gets back to business.
Great to get back to some serious shaving with the Fatip. I really enjoyed using it with this heavy handle. A tiny bit harsh with a bit of irritation on the neck but was worth it for a great feeling BBS result.

gillette old type with pearl handle
flying eagle
semogue 1800
trumpers coconut oil shaving cream
skin bracer AS
boots no7 post shave balm
penhaligons endymion cologne

good shave. i put the handle from my pearl razor on the old type and i like the balance, i reach for my fatip or gillette new when i go for open comb shaves so this combo may stay.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Simpsons best
Schick F type injector/Gillette Platinum Plus (NOS)
Penhaligons Racquets SC
Caron 'Yatagan' AS (1970s version)
Caron 'Yatagan' EdT (1970s version)

Both the AS and EdT have such strong celery notes....more than the current EdT version for sure. I'm always surprised I like it as much as I do. Fun getting this outta the arsenal on rare occasions.

The shaving cream is one of the few in the rotation, but today my lather was off just a little bit. Just not quite perfect, but still good. Sheesh.

BBS results,

Martin

SATURDAY MORNING

Razor: Aristocrat Jr
Blade: Super Iridium
Brush: Simpson Tulip 2 Super
Soap: Institute Karite - bowl lathered

Very nice shave this morning. This soap is lovely stuff. It's like a puck of cream, and very easy to use to create a thick lather in a shaving bowl.

Filarmonica 14 Especial 8/8
Kanayama cordovan #8000
Semogue special 2012 OC boar badger mix
Mondial bergamot & neroli Italian soap
Witch hazel
Kiehl's aftershave balm
Tom Ford black orchid Eau de parfum

This blade would have to be one of my top razors such a smooth shaver and beautiful looking blade.

Sunday 20th October.
Superdrug pre shave (Wife picked it up my mistake)
TOBS Sandlewood Cream
Merkur 38c Barber Pole
Sputnik Blade (2)
Small wooden handle Vie Long that I'm trying to break in
Pecksniffs ASB
Superdrug A/S
Good all round shave might not get another from this blade a little tugging on the third pass so in the bin it will go.
Later this coming week I'm going to make a heavier handle for my EJ 89, will keep you all updated.

Warm shower
Proraso pre, menthol
New Forest Tubby 1, Cella
Merkur Progress (#3; #2.5), Astra SP
Cold splash
Clinique post-shave soother

Haven't use an Astra for ages. Decided it might be a good idea to turn the Progress up half-a-notch... don't think I should have bothered, the first stroke WTG and I got a huge cut on my cheek... how did that happen?
Apart from that, it was a very smooth and comfortable shave

Sunday

Cella
New Forest Tubby 2
Gillette Slim Adjustable
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
Pinaud Clubman AS

That'll do nicely! One down, one up and one to polish.

Sunday:

Brush: Ecotools Kabuki

Still getting those good shaves.
