Stick blender; great for making soup in the pot without having to lug out the food processor and ladle it into that, and much easier to clean afterwards. Also good for smoothies and such, when an occasional health phase kicks in.

Food processor? Ffff that shhhh ... my most technologically advanced gadget in the kitchen is a "stick" blender, to use the Americanism. I love mine. In fact, used it tonight to blend onions, ginger, garlic and tomato for my Mutter Paneer. I'm a horrible technophobe, but a stick blender is the one thing every kitchen should have.

Good call!

Sorry to raise your blood pressure pjgh, TBH, what with being Irish living in England and a Youtube addict, I don't know what language to speak at all at all.
Now if someone could point me in the direction of a perfect potato peeler, I'd be sorted. I've tried Antdad's 'tool' and don't like it. (Now, that just came out all wrong:s). Those things don't have the ability to winkle out bits you want to winkle out. I Googled the one posted by Pigcat, but can't find it - and I like the look of it. Reason being, that the cutting edge is close to the handle. I think that would make it less ultimately painful to use, as less......leverage? Can someone post me a link to where I can get one like that, the main criterion being that the cutter be close to the handle. Soft handle would be a bonus.
When I cook, it does tend to involve peeling potatoes.....ach, you can take the bog out of the woman, but....etc. :)

Great peeler, so sharp you could probably shave with it

I have one of these ...

Simple, effective and a pointy end to winkle out the bits that need winkling out.

FAO Nanny...so disappointed my tool can't winkle those difficult to reach areas, something big and black it is then...

Yes that's the one - nice to see such good reviews, so Sharon I reckon it's worth a punt at £3.99.

The best gadget in our kitchen is Ken.... he's a Chef - from the 1960s.

My mum recently bought us one. I very much doubt it will last as long as yours. Vintage ones have a reputation for being excellent machines and easy to repair.

I like ours, my bread making has come along nicely since having ours.
