its a helpful thought but remember, the blade can only take so much tension. And that piece of machinery you posted a picture of, probably weighs 2 kilograms..... and most on here say 50-70 GRAM razors are heavy....

I have been stuck on one design concept for a razor for maybe 2 years now. The idea is as complicated as taping a razor blade to a chop stick, but in actual planning and drafting, because of one spot on the razor, its as complicated as trying to assemble a fat boy while blindfolded.
I posted it as an example of a type. In practice, I would use a twist lever similar to that found on the PAL adjustable (the one that controls the adjustment), with a cam about the same size as that knob.

If you won't use the idea, maybe I will. :)

The spring design is only there to facilitate using a blade injection key. Ditch the key, and there are many, many different ways you can use to hold the blade in place.

I started the sketch for the fergie lather catcher and realized I could make it use gem, de, 1/2 de, and real injector blades with a mere change of 1 part .
As a result I am having conniptions as a second change would let me put in switchable safety bar/comb bars. And that's more of the original concept of my project was.
1. low cost razor with "found parts off the shelf"
2. one lower cost razor that could do it all.

If ALL of my work comes forth as I expect it to, this one razor will make smythe have a heart attack. And I expect that I will be receiving a large amount of something called apologies from a lot of people who have hated me on the forums.
My design goal is still a price of 20-25$ US per razor. That's what taking so long, finalize designs and evaluate based on purchase cost of components. Even if come components need modification, its easier to modify a 3 dollar component for 2 dollars, then it is to build that component from scratch for 15$. and that has been the biggest issue of razor design and prices in the last 30 years.

a lot of folks don't believe a razor can use more then one style of blade. But the issue is, a lot of people believe what they read in the Sun with their morning toilet break. As a result, most people are not able to see things logically.

quality takes time. I don't have the balls to try to sell vibrators that have a cartridge razor attached like Gillette does, I just KNOW those were aimed for the ladies form the get go,... SO I have to rely on establishing a design that I like, and doesn't look bad next to a classic razor like a Wilkinson sticky or a 46 aristocrat

next 2 weeks im solidifying concepts then the rest of the month I am going to rough out a simple gem based critter.
First two weeks of December I plan on making a crude prototype for photographic work. Then if I haven't been left impoverished by the insurance man, im going to get a simple cad program and knock out a basic blue print.

Then when I have it "right" I HOPE to have a cad file in the hands of a fellow over in the UK who has a prototype machine. Then ill get it to billy in Scotland for first testing.

Is there an ETA for any of the designs?

I Would Be Honoured to Be the Test Pilot for You're Proto Type SE Design..:D
