SAW 24TH-31ST SAPONOFICIO VARESSIMO

Don't have either but my next week's soap suggestions are:
  • Body Shop Macca Root - Everyone's got it and it'd be good to properly get to know it.
  • Barrister & Mann - Maybe difficult to find enough people with it.
  • i Coloniali - Superb soap that doesn't get as much use as it should.
I was maybe going to suggest Proraso - a wide range of flavours, well, 4 anyway and cheap enough to just bin if you don't like and can't be arsed to sell on.

Mike, also be interested if you get much of a sense of scent from the SV 70 sample.

I have none but it will be Ok read about the cold river which are well renowned. Barrister&Mann is another brand I will be pleasant to see huge snowballs.
Perhaps Hasslinger could be later. I will buy the lanolin one. Is there any other you, men, could suggest from this German or Austrian soaps?

Aqua Velva Ice Sport aftershave

This was today's SOTD with the Felce Aromatica. Mines got quite a good scent on it but not what I was expecting when I first got it. Smells a bit like polo sport so went well with the AV Ice Sport. Still had good lather. I love tallow soaps but find the SV as good as tallow. Here's a lather shot after face lathering for the first pass.

School boy error today, went to gym with everything but a bowl. Put Mango samples on my palm and pinched my Omega to palm lather. Much thicker cushioned lather with decent slickness. Did seem to slightly clog up the razor (ATT R2) but great post shave feel.

Tabac and meissner tremonia are two I know of. B&M is a great soap I have boudelaire which is awesome.

I find them to be quite drying post shave, have only tried the green and white though.

The last foam of this week is really amazing. Good cushion, slick and glide and scent. My experience add more and more evidences about how to enjoy a soap: The more you use the better experience you get.
And the very first commandment of my notebook: Bowl lathering besides on holidays, when just use a stick.
Nonetheless, there are lots of bubbles which shouldn't be there. The best foam appears when they fade away.
Second pass was better with a little bit more thick foam.
Nice experience with this soap. Next week I want use a MNS, Hungarian Lavender, which is the first time I get an American tallowy soap. It has been used for just two shaves and wish to squeeze its strengths.

Pre: Murdock Avalon pre-shave oil
Soap: Saponificio Varesino - 70th Anniversary Edition
Brush: Whipped Dog 24mm synthetic
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Razor: Schick Injector Dial Adj @7 + Schick Twin(1)

Trying out this 70th Anniversary soap for the first time. Lather is definitely an improvement and takes it to a good quality lather level, although being a bit negative here, it is just on par with many other good quality laters I've had. For example, it still didn't match Tabac.

Scent; oh, this old chestnut. Again I'm wondering "where is it"? I'm thinking that SV is suffering from the Emperor's New Clothes syndrome and I feel like that little boy pointing at the soap and crying "But it isn't wearing any scent at all!". I mean I can just about smell a scent but I couldn't tell you what it is - maybe my nose holes are just not sensitive. I see SV 70th on many SOTDs and FaceBook etc. and many raves about its performance and scent but I don't get it.

The packaging also doesn't do anything for me. It looks like a pretty tin but, like the wooden tub, is impractical. It won't stack very well, probably easy to damage and dedicated to the one soap type. As a novelty it's fine but I think I'd get bored with it very soon.

Back to the shave. No issues with the lather; pleasant and comfortable but nothing to stand out from the (quality) crowd. Post shave feel left my skin feeling taut and dried up much like the Fern scent version. I'll use this soap again tomorrow before giving my final SV verdict.

BTW: Shouldn't we be discussing next week's scent in the original "Soap A Week Club (SAW)....voting for next week's soap" thread?

Last chance for anyone wanting to co-ordinate SAW for next week? If not we shall be moving onto CRSW. With icoloniali on the waiting list.
