Gents. For those interested I have completed this project this morning. For those not, I apologise for the space it has taken up. A few hairy moments setting the second hand but I did it and I am delighted with the result. If you are a Rolex Watchmaker reading this from a Lab in Switzerland, you'll probably pick holes in this but, for the common Man like myself, it is perfectly acceptable. I can now read the time on this watch in any light and without my glasses. Total cost from Glycine £300 inc postage. Cost to DIY it, £32.00. For the small outlay and a bit of time and effort it's a win for me. Every day is a learning day. Never tell yourself you can't do something. View attachment 109396
Beautiful. I'm envious, they are like rocking horse deposits.

Fantastic job it really is,Gents. For those interested I have completed this project this morning. For those not, I apologise for the space it has taken up. Buying one in an AD is unheard of now, unless you buy two Datejusts and flip them. Rolex are bloody ridiculous. There is no need for them to behave like they do. Basically they don't want the great unwashed to own one, even if they have the money. They are the ultimate snob company.I much prefer the older Subs with lug holes. I got this one new in 2011. Actually got a small discount!!! Unheard off now.
Thank you mate.Fantastic job it really is,
& a cracking watch to boot
Well Done
It was an old one. I just washed the spinach off ityou forgot to mention the price of a toothpick in with the price

100% Correct and that’s the reason i won’t have one anymore.Buying one in an AD is unheard of now, unless you buy two Datejusts and flip them. Rolex are bloody ridiculous. I must admit Omega P.O's are superb especially with the Co-Axial movements. Superb and if I may say, more stylish then any Rolex.100% Correct and that’s the reason i won’t have one anymore.
iv only ever had two,
A Yacht Master 2 which i bought in tenerife and a colleague of mine offered me double the money after i had it two years.
The other was a Sky Dweller which i smashed at work
The damage wasn’t that bad it was all external but again i was offered a good price & was pissed of with myself so got rid of it
with regret.
Having said that i very much doubt i’ll ever get another due to everything your saying
plus i question if they are the brand they once were.
I know Brands are all in the eye of the beholder but the Planet Ocean Movement for me is a joy.
When i was younger Rolex was the only watch for me,I must admit Omega P.O's are superb especially with the Co-Axial movements. Superb and if I may say, more stylish then any Rolex.
