SOTD: Saturday 23th November to Friday 29th November 2019

First shave with my new/old Cooper Monobilt! Effortless three pass BBS. I'm in love with a 90 yr old razor! Go figure! Did not do the dome today; it's still healing from it's fracas with the OneBlade. It should be ready for the Jones Shakesharp tomorrow. What a great shave! I could hear the Cooper singing as it mowed down my whiskers. Great razor! I've been using Suneko blades for the last week or so! They're great! Sharp and smooth! I prefer them over Polsilvers. And price-wise, 10 bucks for 100! Can't beat that with a stick.

Hi Pal. I know the feeling with that dog - my remedy is often the Glaswegian band Mogwai at full blast. Nothing like a bit of subsonic energy.

Razor: Gillette 162 Goodwill 1931 Art Deco Deluxe Handle
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge Yellow
Brush: Unknown Sterling Silver 1890's OrnateLong Handle Brush
Pre-Shave: Georgetown Pottery G12 Scuttle
Lather: ToOBS No. 50
Aftershave: Pre de Provence No. 63 Balm

Don't tell anyone, but the 162 is absolutely magical. Is it better than the 102a? Most likely.

OSP Neroli
RazoRock BC Silvertip synth
Face lather
George Ibberson & Co.
Personna Med Prep
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Fine American Blend

A lovely result with the Ibberson clone of a Gillette Old type. Apparently, cutlers used to supplement their income by producing imitations of razors back in the day. This one is very similar to the original; except it is a gramme or two lighter, and the handle is cast in one piece. This means that the ball end and the ferrule shaped thread connector weren't inserted separately; thus avoiding the risk of the cracks often found in Olds, Brownies and so on.

It shaves just as well as the original: very assertive and efficient.

Dinkum - T. - also Biffy Clyro - 'mona Biff,' as people might say in this part of the world - they come from Kilmarnock in Ayrshire - if anything is going to make you depressed - that would do it. Trust me - I used to live not far away. Antidotes? - a well placed bit of Metallica - Jefferson Airplane - or 'Nevermind' - Nirvana - the whole album - at neighbour annoying volume - the best medicine though - for me - is the unique Scots - Aussie hybrid that is AC/DC. Black dogs don't like Angus. Ha ha - yours - I.

The Grosvenor [ 404-mixed]
Vitos Super Red
Occams V2/ No3 plate
Feather Proguard [4 ]
Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion

After the rather solid Schick B1 I used the rather skeletal Occams V2. I am rather surprised how well I have taken to this Razor, as I am quite partial to heavy Razors. The handle seems a puzzle to some, but having comparatively small hands I have no problems and find it quite grippy as well as offering various ways of holding it. It is particularly good when working around the the neck and going against the grain. Some talk about problems caused by blade chatter, but I have no problems when using it.

I have mine fitted with the most aggressive plate [No3 ] and use a Proguard blade. Today I had a very smooth comfortable Shave ,and with no problems was able to shift my heavy stubble leaving me very closely shaven. It is horses for courses but having used this for a while got rid of my
King Cobra as the Occams gives me better Shaves.

My Saturday shave that I liked so much I did again on Sunday

Preshave: The wonderful African Black Soap - that the very talented @Digimonkey Made
Soap: Another that is becoming a firm favourite Natural Ireland's - Natural Shave Soap
Razor: This one I bought thinking it would be too aggressive but how wrong I was Efficent but Smooth the ATT H1
Blade: The only thing in the shave that was more for curiosity than love - Permasharp they are sharp but unrefined for me.
Brush: Another second hand purchase I thought was ok , but has grown to be a favourite.
Splash: A little bit of Epsilon Blue
Balm: The wonderful Bart's unscented (which has a lovely pepper smell).
EDT: Dunhill Desire

I spent the day picking up a new rescue dog which was a 5 hour round trip , so decide to repeat the shave when I got home , as it was a real joy on Saturday.

Meet Maeve our new addition.

Hello Maeve, you lucky dog !!!

HELL YEAH!

NDD (New Dog Day) is the finest of them all, congrats what a beauty.

Thanks Donnie

She is a sweetie , a sad story her owner an elderly gent died leaving her and 5 others , the others have been rehomed by the shelter , but they were worried about her as she is very nervous, (we have 4 other small dogs we used to foster for a shelter to get the rescues from puppy farms house trained and in a condition where they were ready to go to good homes, but we kind of kept a few along the way), and they are pretty chilled so it is a good environment for her. We sadly lost a dog a few months ago so had room for Maeve. She had a good first night and seems to be getting used to her new forever home.
