Saturday

Santa Maria Novella
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm synth
Face lather
Gillette Red Tip B2
Gillette Wilkinson Sword (3)
Thayer's Lavender and Aloe Vera
Alt-Innsbruck EdC

A smashing shave today. The third use of the GWS deserved the Red Tip. This razor gets the ‘aggressive one of the flare tips' accolade in certain quarters. All I know is that it's heft and balance, together with the GWS rendered it very efficient and led to three passes and no touch-ups.

The SMV is probably my favourite non-tallow soap. It lathers beautifully and by the time of the third pass, the quality was how I like it: a nice, slick film that lends itself to an ATG. It also layers well with the Alt-Innsbruck.

Soap - Palmolive Stick
Brush - Omega 11819
Razor - Fat Handle Tech
Blade - Gillette 7 Black (12)
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Cooling
AS - Superdrug Forest Fresh

I've been continuing using sloppier/more hydrated lathers than I usually would and I'm noticing I'm getting a slightly better shave than when I'd have a thicker lather with more cushion.
I like a thick, cushiony lather for the first pass; but one that decreases in volume to the point where a slick film is all (that's) needed for that third ATG pass.

Thanks to @Burgundy i have adopted a Blackland Blackbird SB & OC for what i thought was a very reasonable fee. I always fancied one but was put off because i found the "Dart" a bit wild.
1st up for the Blackland family Party is the Blackbird SB fitted with a 3 shave Astra SP. I had a really slick lather from the OSP so was feeling pretty confident.
The first couple of strokes i could tell there was some blade feel, however, this is very manageable, i found a comfortable angle almost immediately.
Yes, i gave the razor the respect it deserved and held it very gently actually just supporting its weight, the 1st pass was very good, probably DFS standard.
I completed a 2nd pass and used XTG & ATG where required, Finished, what a close comfortable shave. Happy Bunny.

My post shave routine was all Neroli, Starting with my infused witch hazel, then Argan oil rub, then OSP Splash, then Copycat Just Neroli, if i could have put a bit more Neroli on i would have. Get it on.

I enjoyed that, Sorry Russ

Enjoy your shaves All.

This will be my third and final shave with the Barbasol Floating Head. The problem with having too many vintage razors is that some of them are just exemplary shavers. The Barbasol Floating Head is one, but tomorrow I'll be shaving with another, the Cooper Monobilt. The Barbasol has delivered two great shaves, the first a DFS and the second a BBS. After waking up to a beautiful sunny morning in Philly, I decided to enjoy a leisurely three pass shave with no goal in mind other than a pleasurable shave. The pieces were all in place.

The Omega Pro48 Boar is just a wonderful shave brush! Great backbone along with well-broken-in feather soft brush ends generates a thick paste from the scuttle that is then applied to both face and noggin. I really enjoy the luxurious face and head brushing that also exfoliates as the lather builds. My barber who I see about once a month for a straight razor head and face shave taught me the method. I had complained to him about being unable to generate a decent bowl lather with MWF. I've found his approach - building that initial rich, glistening, yogurty MWF lather on the shaving surfaces instead of in the scuttle - and then wetting the brush in hot water from the faucet as needed and adding it to the paste on the face and dome leads to the cat's meow of lathers! It's never failed, regardless of water type, and the process just feels great!

The shave was a joy this morning. I began with my usual cold water rinse. I have stopped using PAA Preshave Cube soap about five days ago. It had been a regular part of my shave routine, but 22 days of MWF has done away with the need for it. After lathering up, I enjoyed a very comfortable first WTG pass with Madame Barbasol who swept away the 24 hrs of whisker growth with aplomb. The secondXTG and third ATG passes left me with a bloodless, baby-smooth, face and dome.Three great shaves, and it's time to return Madame Barbasol to her case and boxafter a good cleaning. After a wash of my face and noggin with the MWF brushsqueezings, Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite completed what turned out to be aperfect Saturday morning shave, leaving me feeling cool, smooth and refreshed!

Blade: Feather

Nothing wrong with Neroli. I have more Neroli/orange based scents than any other.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac Three-band Silvertip Briar
Soap: Wholly Kaw Fougère Parfaite
Razor: Merkur Mergress (3)
Blade: NOS Gillette Bleue Extra (5)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Phoenix & Beau Right Handed Giant A/S Balm; Saponificio Varesceno Pro Victus
Scent: Caron Yatagan

Back to good old Myrsol Emulsion after finishing my tin of ABC pre-shave cream. I was rewarded with a great shave. The Wholly Kaw Fougère Parfaite soap performed beautifully, and the scent is a delightful tribute to Fabergé Brut. I was gliding the razor across my ugly mug with a few finishing buffs, and got too cocky. As the shave was going so well, I decided to do an ATG buff at the corner of my mouth - something I cannot recall doing before. Due to the considerable blade gap of the Mergress and my clumsy angle of attack, the blade bit on contact without me even making a stoke. Ouch! One of those nicks that is so deep that at first it does not bleed, and you think you've got away with it, then 20 seconds later the claret starts to show. Lesson learnt - don't get cocky with an aggressive razor :shame:. Thankfully, the astringent properties of the Witch Hazel were enough to stop the bleeding without me resorting to alum. I matched the soap scent with Phoenix & Beau's take on Fabergé Brut - Right Handed Giant. A slightly deeper and darker rendition - I lean towards this over the Wholly Kaw, but both are bloody good. A quick dab of SV Pro Victus to the nick and all was well.
After the sweet notes of the Brut tributes, it seems entirely appropriate for a blast of that powerhouse oakmoss beast of a fougère that is Caron Yatagan.
