Kind of reminds me of a Gibbs. Like how easily it comes apart for a proper cleaning too. Very interesting. Maybe worth a punt.Cold Water Shave

Well,well,well!
I summoned up the courage to give the Yaqi AV1 a run out this morning.
I chose @BrianH 's Signature Coria soap for the job, these soaps are up there with the best i use, the scent strength and lather are just right for me.
I loaded a 7'O'C Green Permasharp stainless, not the sharpest blade i own by a long shot, however, its a safe bet.
I set the razor to #1, lathered up and started the shave, again, as always with a new razor i start riding the cap slightly dropping the handle until the razor starts cutting, the angle is actually about the same as any DE i use, a couple of strokes in and i am finding it a really mild shave, dry the hands off, Loosen the main thread using bottom knurled button, back off the White collar, move the adjuster to #3 then tighten it all back up (its a bit of a pain to adjust mid shave, but it all works).
Definitely more blade feel, not overly aggressive, therefore i backed it off a bit and settled on 2.5, that's more like it for me.
I completed a WTG & XTG passes, then some buffing ATG under the jaw on the devils whirlpools.
A final rinse and i have a DFS+ finish, no cut or other issues. i decided to leave it there for today.
So, Yes its an adjustable. Yes it works quite well. Yes i started to quite like it in the hand during the shave. Yes, i would recommend you try one if you can and fancy an adjustable. Yes its a very good budget blade holder.
Any minus points, not really as it is a budget razor, it is simple and worth the copper coins it costs.
I stripped the razor down to show the simple parts, all together it works.

Heritage collection shaving (HCS) were doing a Gibbs replica. I turned out Yaqi were the people the manufactures had got to make it. Once the design was approved, HCS never heard anything more from them. As they didn't own the design they couldn't do much about it.Kind of reminds me of a Gibbs. That's a bit shady. Not necessarily illegal but definitely shady.Heritage collection shaving (HCS) were doing a Gibbs replica. I turned out Yaqi were the people the manufactures had got to make it. From their insta post.
Just wanted everyone to know where we stand with the Gibbs replica. I've debated saying anything but now I'm getting asked questions about our Gibbs project and I want to be as transparent as I can be with each of you.
So from what I can tell the MFG I commissioned to make ours apparently had them (Yaqi) make it.
But as of our last design sample when I said to them it was close but I needed one last fix. The adjuster dial is still not working correctly. So after that last request to make yet another change ....They ceased communication with me on it. Both companies did.
Although I did not own the patent to the razor nor do I currently...I never was going to stamp the Gibbs name to it. I was calling it the Heritage Adjustable Homage to Gibbs Replica using the same respect as I have with the other projects.
So as of now the Gibbs project is on hold and I will announce any other news when I have it.
I have another manufacturer that makes our Merit design and is NOT a shaving company. They are engineers with the equipment to make a quality Gibbs replica.
This is why we did not want to take preorders. I believe in giving the best quality product at the most reasonable price and we weren't quite there yet with the quality.
However YAQI razor has decided to make a few subtle changes and place the design in the market. We wish them the best of luck with their version of it and we will continue to update you when we have more information
We have always operated with integrity and transparency so we will find the right MFG to continue to assist us in bringing this project to life.
Thanks for your continued patience and support.
