Here it is:

So Vulfix are at last officially selling directly on line their Simpsons range.

Some points about their website.

Wouldn't it have been a good idea to give measurements of the brushes - at minimum: knot, loft and handle sizes?

And why leave it until check out to add VAT to prices? At first I thought they had been slashed! At least on their Vulfix site they show the price making it clear it is exclusive of VAT.

I was underwhelmed by the site. Almost as if they were working to a very tight budget with limited options avialable to them. An opportunity missed.
Poor photography, no mission statement, agree with Fido on lack of dimensions and VAT, and I think they could have gone into a lot more detail about the brushes and styles as I'm sure the origins/history would make for interesting reading.
An average site of poor/average quality in my opinion.

I agree with your further comments beejay.

When I want dimensions I tend to use this:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.emsplace.com/simpson_brush_measurements.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.emsplace.com/simpson_brush_measurements.htm</a><!-- m -->

There is a lot of information about Simpsons on other sites. You would have thought Vulfix would really make an effort to be the most comprehensive source of information about the history and current facts.

You would think they would include brush specifications but then a large % of their output would be returned.

I've had enough dealings with them to realise they can be typically hit and miss, the website is just another example, thankfully their customer service is up to the task.

I suppose it is better than what they had before which was nothing really, still it could develop into something better. Perhaps I am an optimist, I have seen that the sizes advertised on other sites and the sizes produced can vary and some brushes have been returned as a result but as andtad says I have also found their customer service first class.

I guess you need to counter this being vigilant in checking that what you got is what you want with them. Even through resellers like Diamond Edge their service is very good so I would still rate them as one of the best (if not the best) brush manufacturers in production today.

The photos look like they have been scanned in, perhaps from the original Simpsons catalogue, then 'cut and pasted'. They definitely seem to have an old-fashioned look about them.

See the post by "Simpsons" on this thread:

Indeed would be nice for complete specs like Gary at shoebox. I just use those as reference. I know these are handmade and even some of my Omegas-actually majority of them aren't always same specs as mentioned on Gary's site that dimensions are approximate.

I think it makes sense to add VAT until check out because it doesn't apply to all as I'm sure many from US will buy from them. Just simulated sale sort of speak and shipping isn't at all bad. Wonder if it comes with tracking number.

For those who ordered Vulfix brushes, did they provide tracking number for you? Thanks

I don't know the situation in the UK, although I assume it to be similar, but over here (low countries by the sea), if you sell to consumers (i.e. not to registered businesses only), you're obliged by law to include VAT in your advertised prices.

It is easy to satisfy all like "The Gentlemans shop" and "The English Shaving Company" have, by advertising a with tax price and also a without tax price.

Agree with just about all of the above, it is very disappointing to sit there thinking you have found a bargain, only to find either VAT yet to be added or exhorbitant postage charges. :(

Foolish as it may sound I have to ask, with the VAT attached to products you purchase, how much of difference if you ordered from US or perhaps other countries? I know some guys here order from Spain or Portugal. Thanks

For me, shipping from UK to US is ~11USD and it would serve me better as far as price overall is concerned except the ETA of brush. Which is understandable. However, if I were to order say Wee Scot, it would be close to US price it's just the latter is 3-4USD more and would obviously get to me quicker.

Actually wouldn't mind ordering UK if products weren't available here and also I don't mind the wait.

It's not foolish at all, VAT is currently 17.5% and it is only applicable within the E.U, you should not be charged it if you are purchasing from the US.

As long as you avoid import duty it might be worth it.
