I love shaving sticks and have tried over a dozen different varieties. I use them as intended, rubbing the stick on a wet face and face lathering with a wet brush. No problem. My favourites include Tabac, Irisch Moos, Wilkinson Sword, La Toja, Valobra, Harris, Speick and of course Palmolive.
I've never had a problem switching from cake/bowl lathering to stick/face lathering, it just needs a bit of practice. I find it strange that sticks get grated, melted and squashed etc, but if it works for you enjoy it. :mrgreen:

Rubbing the soap directly onto the brush was a step in the right direction. The ultimate thing though would be to put in into a bowl like a normal soap.
More water was also a good suggestion.

Just grate the stick into a normal bowl. Add a little water, compress it est voila a "normal" soap.

:? I love the shaving sticks much less messing around i find.I leave my stick (tabac or arko) soaking in hot water along with my razor and brush whilst i bath then just rub stick all over me chops then work with brush and shave.
