Shaving Acquisitions February

An Easy Gibbs lather stick, still unused and wrapped up, in a Boots Old English Lavender stick tube. The tube is in mint condition apart from a few minor surface marks on the top.
The colours and fonts are reminiscent of the Imperial Leather Chubby shave sticks of the 1950s so this container could be from same time.

I've never tried this soap (nor the Boots OEL) but have read good things about it.
Despite some instincts to preserve it I intend to use it because I've never tried this soap before and curiosity gets the better of me if it's new to me.

I've been hunting a Gibbs Stick or Tube of Cream for years. CONGRATS! Dave walks away repeating to himself, "I'm NOT jealous, I'm NOT jealous, I'm NOT......."

I notice that this month's 'acquisitions' thread has become 'shaving acquisitions.' It's normally okay to toss the odd non-shaving item in?

The hunt for the perfect small coffee cup continues - by small, I mean 200 ml or less. These are Japanese hand-made porcelain by Kinto - the one on the left is the CLK151 and opposite is the Pebble cup and saucer. They don't have handles. I drink strong Moka pot coffee first thing - a couple of smaller cups is better for me than one mug. I don't enjoy the experience of drinking from standard mugs. Even worse are the double-walled borosilicate glass things. The heat retention is great but it has all the pleasure of drinking from a specimen jar. Kinto stuff is expensive but I got a deal on them. Just to touch they are beautiful and reek of quality. It strikes me that the perfect coffee cup is much like the perfect shave - it doesn't exist - but we enjoy the chase. :) - cheers - I.

Enjoy! I've got a few generations of Boots shaving bowl and a couple of their Old English Lavender. Damn good stuff!

Thanks. I have never had any of the older Boots stuff.
I have the last shaving bowl soap they did and used to have their brush and brushless creams. All were decent if not exceptional and very cheap.

The Gibbs Easy does indeed produce an easy lather!

Would be interested to see photos if you have the time.

I've got three generations of this bowl.

I've got a Boots Regesan stick as well, but not used it yet ... it's kinda too nice to, but I will at some point.

Lovely photos and all things I haven't seen before. Thanks.
