Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Gillette Slim
Derby Blades
Edwin Jagger Aloe Cream

I was running late again today so another quick one-pass shave. After a shower I rubbed the cream thoroughly into my face and then whipped it up to a lather with my brush. I then did a quick with the grain pass with the slim set on #3. I find if I start with my neckline I get a better shave. It is the hardest area to do well so it benefits from the lather being freshly applied.

Now that I have figured out that my neck grain runs at quite an extreme angle, traveling almost straight toward my ear, I find I can get an OK shave now.

The slim provides a surprisingly good shave even on one pass.

Quick blast of Alum, Balm and CKFree a/s and I was good to go. All in the shave took less than 5 minutes. Oh, and Boots Cremolia for my hands :)

Try Sam NTGUYS or Jason dridiot, both on ebay for your Kai's.

In all seriousness, what on earth are you talking about. I went out with a girl that lived in Coronation Street, not the one on the telly I don't think, never saw it on TV to find out...

Monday

1955 Gillette British Flair Tipped Rocket
John Lewis Shaving Soap
Kent BK4
Gillette 365 Blade (3)

She was a character in the Street who was written out in the mid-sixties, rather like my namesake.

You young'uns have missed out on so much culture...

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Monday

Kent BK4
Fenton 6/8

Taylors rose cream
alum
Nivea ASB
Cella Classica cologne

Inspired by all this talk of the forthcoming DR Harris rose cream, I dipped into the decant club sample of Taylors version. Not awfully impressed to be honest, although it smelt fine, but it didn't provide a great deal of protection. The Cella edc (another sample) was on Ollie's recommendation... I haven't made up my mind about that yet, but it's certainly longer lasting than most.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Monday evening.

Prep: Wash face with glycerin soap, lather & massage face followed by a hot towel.
Soap: Arko stick.
Brush: Simpson Colonel 2 Band Super.
Razor: 6/8ths Livi regrind.
AS: Thayers Witch Hazel followed by Clubman.

Great shave. Always the case with these Livi regrinds.

Tuesday

Gillette Red Tip
Feather (2)
Kent BK8
Coates Lime
Aqua Velva

Hmm... getting new found love for the Feathers. Of all the old Coates, the lime one seems to have retained the scent the most.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Tuesday

Futur
Gillette Super Thin
Vulfix VS/3
Kent Soap
L'Occitane Cade asb

5th and last shave for the Super Thin. I can just start to feel it get a little rough, but 5 shaves is my limit with any blade.

Re: Shave of the Day, w/c Saturday 13 February 2010

Lovely pic, Leon. Makes me want to start using my lather bowl again. Azzaro, eh?

Monday Night

EJ DE 87 + Astra Keramik
Vulfix 404 boarger
EJ Sea Buckthorn soap
Alum
Proraso Balm

Good shave, apart from some ATG burn on my neck. Since the ingrown/red blotch on my cheek (which has gone down, but is still there), I've not bothered with ATG on the cheek.

I've not been bowled over by the Keramik (yet?). And the 404's hair-shedding problem is gradually resolving itself; that said, I still prefer my Vulfix Pure Badger.
