It's quite a pleasant surprise when you do that. I did the same with my Mach 3, and got disturbingly good results.

I did an experiment and posted the results on another forum, (before I found TSR) see the link below.

Enjoyed reading that, Ian, thanks. Nice to see a purely objective and honest approach. Totally agree that shaving with no pressure, and in the direction you would do when using a DE (what I did), can make a cartridge razor an effective tool. Also agree that they badly lack the charm and personality of a sturdy DE.

Wednesday

Merkur HD
Red Personna (3)
EJ Best Badger
Irisch Moos
Aqua Velva

Personnas are very much the business for me - though I'm starting to think I could put a tin can lid in the Merkur and it would shave well

Enjoy!!!

While I'm at it, my Kent BK8 did a wonderful job with MWF today. Who says floppy's don't do the business with soaps?

Tuesday Evening

Feather Popular
Feather
Omega Boar
Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn soap
Alum
Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn balm (sample)
Douro EDT

Have used the Feather Popular (TTO) a few times now. It zips along my cheeks, does a nifty job on the chin, but always seems to fall short performance-wise on my temperamental neck-throat area. Beyond that, I'd like to dish out some praise to the EJ Sea Buckthorn soap: this modest little puckcakeround always comes up trumps in the slick/cushiony lather department. Smells lovely, too. Not sure about the balm - a bit greasy.
