Williams Wednesday with the Henckels Rapide.
Today i used a spine of a de-spined GEM to Shim the back of the blade to try to emulate the original wedge, it seemed to work pretty well , i may try 2 shims next time.
Only 2 passes today for a DFS result, the Rapide is not a razor you go chasing a BBS finish with a buffing pass, saying that it leaves me smiling ear to ear. The Williams soap face lathered well although i did load the RR400 synth for a bit extra time and I had plenty for the shave in the brush
A nice post shave finishing with the Aqua Velva.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All

Update,
My 3 pucks of Hampshire Wool Fat arrived today along with the Vintage Pewter dish, the pucks fit exactly into the Patum Peperium dish i bought for it. The Pewter dish is Oval but will still work for soap.

After recently writing how the R89 should be given a lifetime shaving award I give you today's shave with the theme, 'Muhle 89'

IMG_20201216_172121.jpg

Razor - R89 on a Razorock titanium handle
Blade - Feather (The perfect 89 match)
Brush - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
Soap - L'Occitane Cade in a Boycie's emporium cheap Wilkinson Sword tub
Aftershave balm - T&H Grafton

Oil your vocal chords, get your air guitar tuned, hit play and sing along in your best Bryan Adams voice

I got my first real razor
Bought it at ESC online
Shaved with it 'til my face bled
Was the Muhle 89

Me and some guys from school
Had hairs on our chin and tried real hard
Jimmy quit, brody grew a beard
With a cartridge we knew we'd never get that far

Oh, when I look back now
That Muhle seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I'd always wanna Muhle 89
Those were the best shaves of my life

Ain't no use in complainin'
When you've got Bristle removing to do
Spent my evening's by the bathroom sink
That's when I met the Muhle , yeah

Standin' by your kitchen sink
You told me you'd wash dishes forever
Oh, and when you held my razor
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best shaves of my life

Oh, yeah!
Back with a Muhle R89, oh

Man, we were rippin' our faces
We were bleeding and useless
We needed a decent razor
I guess an 89 can last forever
Forever, yeah!
Yeah!

And now the times are changin'
Look at all the razors come and gone
Sometimes when I play that old 89
I think about shaving and what went wrong

Standin' by your kitchen sink
You told me you'd wash dishes forever
Oh, and when you held my razor
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best shaves of my life

Oh, yeah!
Back with a Muhle R89, oh
Oh!
Back with a Muhle R89, oh
Oh, yeah!
Me and my baby with an 89
Oh!

It was the Muhle
The Muhle
The Muhle R89
Yeah!

In all honesty I must stop mocking @Boycie83 and his packaging as the Cade did arrive on the doorstep unexpectedly with his every good will and kindness. But I still feel it was probably some shite at the back of his emporium cupboard (lock up?) that no one wanted to purchase anyway. So throw it in some fucking cheap container and send it to some mug or other. Me.

As it is though the Cade is a cracking soap and delivered wonderfully by the rarely used (but should be used more) Cadman Tuxedo. A brush I forgot how damn brilliant it is.

What! No SE?

Indeed not. I just needed to use the 89 to remind myself why I would give it a lifetime achievement award. Give it a Feather and it just does everything one could wish for and with little chance of having one of those 'Whoops. Shit' moments. A piece of shaving brilliance and well deserving of my award.

A great shave and my wife is ready and waiting

Shhhh. You're doing just great cat. Just don't give it away I've popped down the pub.

Sod Bryan Adams, he ain't got a scratch on some wonderful Japanese ladies. And I know you all agree. Have some Cyntia for agreeing

Sotd-16-12-20.jpg

prep - facial scrub
razor - Karve alu - d plate

soap - RazoRock Puros - tallow
brush - Chubby one - best
post - witch hazel
a/s - Vitos tobbaco
balm - Nivea Sensitive
scent - none.

So - note to self - never start a sentence with a conjunction - for most of us here - shaving represents more than just taking the hair off our faces - and indeed for some, heads - nobody makes us do it - it is a cultural choice - we can do this well or badly. Will it be a pleasurable experience or a mundane chore? Thankfully for me - the former won out many years ago. My habit recently has become to get up early and study - dedicated wet shavers can not live on Universal Credit alone - you try going from over £550 a week to £100.08. Retraining has become my prime directive. I had an assessment today - grammar, spelling and punctuation - not just the standard - they, they're, there and their stuff - much more intense. I was pretty much word blind when I finished my prep - fuck - where does the apostrophe go? Is that plural or singular? - check the style guide - for it is king. Take a break - shut the laptop - went for a shave - had a couple of rolls and square sausage - brown sauce thank you - and made a pot of coffee. Came back to the fray - all went well. I'm happy to say - I got a hero-gram from my tutor - which I mostly put down to taking the time out to shave - the time apart allowed my brain to assimilate and settle down. Oh - I smelled nice too - not that this would have come across online. Enjoy your shaves one and all - yours - I. Every day is a school day.
