I got this soap in a trade and because I do this kind of thing I realised by looking at Google images that this soap had crossed the Atlantic at least twice. Lovely smelling soap if not quite as slick as the best vintages.

I spent ages trying to find the best blade for 1940s Gillettes and for me the Rubie is just perfect.

Marvellous shave.

Really nice shave earlier, although I did nip my lip on the 2nd pass, which I haven't done in a while. Had to go rooting around for my trusty Proraso Healing Gel, which I eventually found at the bottom of my wardrobe!

Have found that despite having a heavy beard , I am getting good shaves from this razor when I use it on the Lower Settings. Though the blade was on its 9th outing, the shave was not only very smooth and comfortable, but it was very close too. Am having to revise my opinion of what razor gives me the best Shave.

@Fergiebilly was right, the Schick blade (generously sent by @mpf9ret) does improve the shave with this razor. Far superior to the Personna blade. But still not enough to impress me with injectors. Perhaps I need to try a more aggressive model.
