S.O.T.D. Saturday 28th November to Friday 4th December 2015

Mon 30th Nov.
Victoria PB
Lea Classic Cream
ER 1924 with S/S Handle
Gem S/S [ 3 ] & 1/2 Spine Shim
Alum Rub /Myrsol Antesol A/S

The 1924 is much less aggressive when a Shim is added , but still provides a very close shave, providing one takes time and utilises short strokes. Today got one of those really good shaves ,which leads to a bit of " Face Stroking " , and I did not really need either the Alum or Aftershave !!.

1 1/2 days growth - ideal shaving conditions
Hot Shower
Switchback 400 brush
Dubarry Silkashave soap
Standard razor

Heavenly start to the day :)

I found the Standard to be a very easy and carefree razor to use, almost an autopilot kind of shaver. Just what you need sometimes first thing in the morning.

I'm really loving this soap. Can't remember the last time I used a soap three times in four days. The M&F tips look very white when the brush is dry. It is marked Blonde Badger but shows the characteristics of Lee's Finest. I simply asked for this handle style and he chose the size and knot. One of my very favorite brushes.

Ah! That's better ...

After a couple of enjoyable days getting to know a Japanese kamisori razor, I'm glad to be back to single edge.

What a lovely razor this one is! I bought it in a proper beaten up old tin, something akin to a prototype version of the 'Popular' set and the razor therein was lovely! Short lined handled, squat head with an unusual stamping inside - Ever Ready Safety Razor Made in USA. Perhaps not a prototype but a throw-back, a later model as "Safety Razor" was something we'd see inside later Star razors. The inside of the tin is not like the regular 'Popular' sets. So, prototype or throwback? Who knows? Lovely to use, anyway ...
