Proraso Red

Just tried some red. I was hoping \ expecting it to smell like the TOBS sandalwood but it doesn't.

Great lather and a nice shave. Skin feels great afterwards.

Not sure about the smell though.

All Proraso is good Proraso. Never tried the pre/post, but the soaps, creams and aftershaves are spot on for value. Definitely a producer to measure others against.

I actually quite like the sandalwood - a better approximation than most - and struggle to see how it's that controversial!

I've recently picked up a tub of red (the green was my first soap and, to date, the only item I've actually finished) and am thoroughly impressed. I'm not sure it lathers quite as well as the green I had (which was the old formula) but I really like the smell. Nice hint of sandalwood and not too overpowering - plus not the slightest hint of irritation from the fragrance.

Was going to start my own thread on this, but saw there was already an existing one! I got a tube of red for Christmas after reading so many +ve things about it then advising Santa on it's purchase.

Well, I'm ever so slightly disappointed. Yes, it lathers up nicely, rich & creamy. But that scent - OMG, what is it?? It isn't exactly unpleasant, but it doesn't endear itself to me either. I've kinda solved it, in that I now splash a few drops of Old Spice into my shaving bowl with it to increase the pleasure. However, I really don't know what the fuss is all about. Tube packaging is nice though.

£ for £, I'd take my existing favourite £1.75 tube of Palmolive cream any day...

Ive got the green shaving cream and my god it is some good stuff. Use the proraso aftershave as well. If only the smell lasted longer as it smells amazing. The white p/s can be abit hit and miss with my face. Some days it feels uncomfortable, others refreshing.

Great lather. No doubt about that but the Sandalwood scent is quite unusual. Blue tube is the best proraso scent. and ofcourse you can't go wrong with the traditional eucalyptusy formula !

Haven't tried the red Proraso yet, partly cos I haven't got a clue what Sandalwood is meant to smell like, the green is superb, I'll be getting a tube of that quite soon and have sampled the blue one which is good too, but a bit of a weird smell. Suppose I could get used to it, as someone else said, all Proraso is good Proraso.

The Sandlewood scent is warm, musky and masculine! Very traditional as scents go. I sell Taylors of Old Bond street's Sandlewood at my Barber shop and it's easily the most popular shave cream.

The TOB's Sandalwood has a great scent. One of my favourites. Unfortunately my skin doesn't like the cream.

I bought the Proraso as a replacement and was very disappointed as it smells nothing like the TOBs
